ABSTRACT

Newtypesteel-concretecompositeslabswithstiffeningribswereporposedas

panelsofwharfstomeetspecialrequirements.Workingprocedureofawharfcanbe

reducedandprojectconstructionspeedcanbefesterbyusingthisnewtypesteel-

concretecompositeslabs.Basedonthestatisticparametersofloadandmaterial

charactersanddimensions,thesecurityandreliabilityforthenewtypesteel-

concreteslabsforwharfsintheperiodsofconstructionandusinginseaare

calculatedandcomparedwithcommonconcretepanelsofwharfs.Bythecalculated

results,advicesofthenewtypesteel-concretestructureforwharfonPilesare

proposed.

1.Introduction

Stell-concretecompositestructurehasbeenappliedwidelyinthebuildingproject,butitisseldomappliedinwharfsinsea.Insteadofreinforcedconcretebeam-slabsystem,anewtypesteel-concretecompositestructureisdesignedforwharfonpilestomeetspecialrequirements.AtypeofcompositebeamwithconcreteandU-shapedsteelisdesignedasthebeamofwharfonpiles,andanewtypeofsteel-concretecompositeslabwithstiffeningribsisdesignedasthepanelofwharfonpiles.

Steelslabwithstiffeningribscanspanalongdistancewithoutanytemporarybraces;

furthermore,ithasbiggercarryingcapacitythanRCslabhasduringconstruction,andafterintegratingwithconcretethesteel-concretecompositeslabwithstiffeningribscansupportmoreloads.Becausetheconstructionofthisslabneedn'

tusemouldingboardandbindreinforcingsteelbars.workingprocedureofawharfcanbereducedandprojectconstructionspeedcanbefasterbyusingthisnewtypesteel-concretecompositestructure.AndbecausethisSteel-concretecompositeslabhaslessdeadweight,thehoistabilityofffloatingcranewillnotbesoimportantinbuildingawharfU-shapedsteelconcretecompositebeamhasthesameadvantage.Thusthissteel-concretecompositestructuresystemisagoodchoicetobuildawharfonPilesunderbrieftimelimitforaproject.

Thenewtypeofstell-concretecompositestructreisresearchedtoapplyinwharfs,sotherearefewexperiencesofdesign,constructionanduseoftheapplicationofthecompositestructureinwharfs.BasedonthestatisticParametersofloadandmaterialcharactersanddimensions,thesecurityandreliabilityforthenewtypesteel-concreteslabsforwharfsintheperiodsofconstructionandusinginseaarecalculatedandcomparedwithcommonconcretepanelsofwharfs.Basedonthecalculatedresultsadvicesofthenewtypesteel-concretestructureforwharfonpilesareproposed.

2.Thenewtypeofcompositebeam-slabssystems

2.1Beam-slabssystems

Tomeettherequirementsofawharfonpilesinsea,twokindsofcompositestructureareadoptedtoformanewtypeofcompositestructurebeam-slabssystem(Fig.1).OneisU-shapedsteelconcretecompositebeamwhichisalsocalledcap-stylesectioncompositebeam,Theotheristheribbedsteelformconcretecompositeslabsorthesteelsheeting-concretecompositeslabswiththereinforcedbarofprofiledsteel.

WeldingorcoldbendingsslabsintotheU-shapedsectionasthebeam'

srib,pouringconcreteintotheribandtheupsideofflangeontheU-shaPedsection,theU-shapedsteel-concretecompositebeamisformed.

Accordingasrequire,U-shapedsteelbeamscanadoptthetypeofthesectionwithliPPedbarorthesectionwithoutlip,justasFig.2.WhentheU-shapedsteelhasthelippedbar,onewayistolaythebottomslabsonthelippedbarandrootthemwithbolt(asFig.2(a)).Theotherwayistogroovefirstlyonthebottomslabsandconnectitwiththelippedbarbyplugwelding.whentheU-shapedsteelbeamhasnotthelippedbar,theendofslabsmaybeextendedintoconcreteofthebeam,thentheyarebracedonthesideribofU-shapedsteelbeam(asFig.2(b)),andthewidthofthiskindofU-shapedsteelbeamislonger.

2.2Steel-concretecompositeslabswithstiffeningribsslab

0nthebottomofthesteel-concretecompositeslabswithstiffeningribsslab,isweldedintothesteeldeckonwhichthecertainconcreteispoured(Fig.3).Theslabisone-wayslab,andtheI-shapedsteelortheT-shapedsteelmustbeParalleledtothedirectionofthespanoftheslab.Iftheslabisdesignedasone-waycontinuousplate,reinforcingsteelbarscanbesetattheupsideoftheslabonthebearingbycalculation.Becauseofstiffeningribs,theslabcanendurebigs
