NelsonMandelawasborninSouthAfricaonJuly18,1918.HisfatherwasaChief(酋长)ofatribe.Evenfromhewasachildhewantedtothrowhimselfintothecareerofthenationalliberation.

OnJune12,1964,Mandelawassentencedtolifeimprisonment.Hestayedintheprisonfor27yearsandheneverchangedhisstrongmind,whichistobuildannew,equalandfreeSouthAfrica.Inhislifetime,hewonnearly100awards.In1993,hewashonoredwiththeNobelPeacePrize.Hediedon5December2013.
