3）onabasis在……基础上
onadaily/weekly/yearlybasis安装每天/每周/每年一次的标准，相当于everyday，everyweek，everyyear。
4）Somethingthat’softenrecommendedforthosewhowanttosortouttheirfinancesistokeepaspendingandsavingsdiary.给那些想要清理自己财务状况的人常提的一个建议就是写收支日志。
①该复合句中that’softenrecommendedforthosewhowanttosortouttheirfinances是修饰先行词something的定语从句，该从句中还包含了一个修饰先行词those的定语从句：
whowanttosortouttheirfinances.
②recommend：
推荐，赞许（及物动词）
③sortout:
从…中区分出来
5）Havingaverycleargoalinmindcanmakeitmucheasiertosaveup.头脑中有一个非常明确的目标，可以使省钱边的更加容易。
①Havingaverycleargoal是动名词短语，在句中做主语，这时谓语动词要用第三人称单数。
②makeitmucheasiertosaveup的结构为”make+宾语+宾补”,it是形式宾语，真正的宾语是后面的动词不定式短语”tosaveup”,mucheasier是形容词词组用作宾语补足语。
6）bedeterminedtodosth.下定决心做某事（状态）
eg:
Thebestwe’lldoisdothebestwecanandjustbedeterminedtodowhatwehavetodotosurvive.我们能做的最好的事，就是尽我们所能，坚定地努力让自己存活下去。
determinetodosth.决定做某事（动作）
eg:

3）overtime:
久而久之，过了一段时间

lie作为“撒谎”的意思，过去式：

Lie作为“躺”的意思，过去式：

7）Bythetimehegraduatedfromhighschool,Lukehadsavedenoughtopayforonesemester’stuition.高中毕业时，Luke已经存下足够支付大学一学期的学费。
①hadsaved是过去完成时，表示save这个动作实在hegraduatedfromhighschool这个过去发生的动作之前开始的，一直持续到graduate，并由继续下去的可能性。
②bythetime：
到……时候为止，等到；表示动作发生的前后关系（注意时态）
8）spend：
花费（时间，金钱）
①spendtime／moneyonsth.在……上花费时间（金钱）。
eg:
Ispenttwohoursonthisproblem.这道题花了我两个小时。
②spendtime／money（in）doingsth.花费时间（金钱）做某事。
eg:
Theyspenttwoyears（in）buildingthisbridge.造这座桥花了他们两年时间。
③ 区别spend,take,cost和pay的用法
A:
spend的主语必须是“人”，宾语可以是钱、精力、时间等
B:
cost的主语必须是“物”或“事”，表示“费用”、“耗费”，后接life,money,health,time等，侧重于花费的代价。
注意：
cost后不能与具体的时间长度连用，只能与表示抽象概念的时间短语连用。
如：
sometime,muchtime,tenyearsofhardwork
eg:
Makingexperimentslikethiscostsmuchtimeandlabor.做这样的实验要花很多钱。
C:
take后面常跟双宾语，常见用法有以下几种：
（1）Ittakessb.＋时间＋todosth.做某事花了某人多少时间。
eg：
Ittookthemthreeyearstobuildthisroad.他们用了三年时间修完了这条路。
（2）doingsth.takessb.＋时间,做某事花了某人多少时间。
eg：
Repairingthiscartookhimthewholeafternoon.他花了一下午修车。
D:
pay的基本意思是“支付”，作为及物动词，宾语可以是“人”、“钱”
（1）pay（sb.）moneyforsth.付钱（给某人）买……。
eg：
Ihavetopaythem20poundsforthisroomeachmonth.我每个月要付20英磅的房租。
（2）payforsth.付……的钱。
eg：
Ihavetopayforthebooklost.我不得不赔丢失的书款。
（3）payforsb.替某人付钱。
eg：
Don’tworry!
I’llpayforyou.别担心，我会给你付钱的。
（4）paysb.付钱给某人。
eg:
Theypayuseverymonth.他们每月给我们报酬。
（5）paymoneyback还钱。
eg：
MayIborrow12yuanfromyou?
I'llpayitbacknextweek.你能借给我12块钱吗？
下周还你。
（6）payoffone'smoney还清钱。
9）orginise:
组织，安排vt.
eg:
WedecidedtoorganizeapartyforChristmas.我们决定为圣诞节组织一个晚会。
10）calculate:
计算，估计vt.
eg:
IcalculatethatwewillreachLondonatabout3p.m.我估计我们大约在下午三点到达伦敦。
11）compare:
对照，比较vt.
compareAand/withB:
把A和B作比较
eg:
MyEnglishcannotcomparewithhis.我的英文水平不如他。
compareAtoB:
把A比作B
eg:
Childrenareoftencomparedtohappybirds.孩子常常被比喻成幸福的小鸟。
12）state:
陈述，声明vt.
eg:
Pleasestateyouraddressandtelephonenumberclearly.请清楚说明你的电话和地址。
