Forhispartinthestudy,ProfSergeWichfocusedontheorangutans'signaturecalls---soundsthemaleorangutansmaketoannouncetheirpresence.Thosecallscancarryakilometerthroughtheforest,"ProfWichexplained.Ifyoulookatthesecalls,youcanteasethemapart,andwefoundsomedelicatedifferencesbetweentheseandotherpopulations.

Thefinalpieceofthepuzzle,though,wasverydelicatebutconsistentdifferencesintheshapeoftheSumatran,BorneanandTapanuliorangutanskulls.
