SotheRussiansdecidedtoorganizeabearhuntforMr.Bayertosweetenthetalks.Thiswasn'tasimpletask.SomepeopleintheweststillbelievethatbearsmaybefoundandseeneverywhereinRussiancitiesjustlikesquirrelsmaybeseeninourbackyards.Thisisnottrue.Theclosestplaceonemayfindbearsinthewildismaybe2,500milesawayfromMoscow.However,asolutionwasquicklyfound.TheRussianbusinessmenwenttoMoscowCircus(马戏团)andfor$2,000boughtaveryoldbear.Thisbearusedtoamuseandamazeaudiencesinmanycountriesfor30years,butgotandlookedtooold,andwasretired.

“Becareful,theRussianbearsareverydangerous,andfrightening,”theytoldtoMr.Bayer.“IfcomparedtotheRussianbears,yourAfricanlionsarenothingmorethanharmlesscats.”Thebearwasbroughttoaforest50milesfromMoscowandwasleftthere.Mr.Bayerwastoldthatbearswereplentifulinthatforestandthatmanycattleandevenpeoplehadbeeneateninthesurroundingvillages.
