ProfessorAnthonyHiltonfromAshtonUniversity,UK,testedtherulewithhisstudents.Theyfoundthatfooddroppedforfivesecondsislesslikelytocontainbacteria(细菌)thanifitsitsthereforlonger.

Forthestudy,Hiltonandhisstudentstestedalotoffood—bread,pasta,cookiesandcandy—toseehowmuchbacteriatheyhadwhentheymadecontactwiththefloor.Theyallowedthefoodtolieonvarioustypesofflooring-carpet,laminate(复合地板),andtile(瓷砖)forthreesecondsto30seconds.
