WhatAreHybridCars?

Avehicleisahybridifithasmorethanonesourceofpower.Wehavehybridvehiclesallaroundussuchasdiesel-electrictrains,diesel-electricbuses,andnuclear-electricsubmarines.MaybesomeofyouremembertheMo-Ped,amodifiedbicyclethatusedacombinationofagasolineengineandmusclepowerofitsrider.Inasimilarmanner,thegasoline-electrichybridcarisacombinationofgasoline-poweredcarandanelectriccar.

WhatIsReasonforDevelopingSuchaComplicatedCar?

Therearetwomajorreasons:

1)Toreducetailpipeemissionsand2)Toincreaseaveragegasmileage.Thesetwogoalsinteractwitheachothersothattheoverallperformanceofthehybridcarenhancesbothofthem,today’shybridsprovidegasefficiencyof40to60miles/gallon.Thehybridshavereducedemissionstoapproximately10%oftheJapanesestandardsoraboutequaltotheCaliforniastandards,whicharethemostrestrictiveintheUS.

HowDoHybridCarWork?

Therearetwotypesofhybridcars.Oneisknownastheparallelhybridandtheotherisknownasaserieshybrid.Bothtypesusethesamecomponents,whichare:
