联系动词  

1.联系动词或称不完全不及物动词,虽有意义,但不完全,需要加名词、形容词、代名词等作主词补语以补足其意义。

Iamastudent.

我是学生。

Iam不能完整表达句子的意义,要加主词补语astudent,句意才完整,am是联系动词。

2.联系动词按其含义可以分为二类。

类型1:

表示状态和状态的持续,如:

be(是),seem(似乎),look(看起来),appear(似乎),feel(觉得),sound(听起来),smell(闻起来),taste(尝起来),keep(保持),remain(保持),stand(站立),lie(躺),stay(停留)等。

类型2:

表示从一种状态转变为另一种状态,如:

become(变成),go(变得),get(变得),turn(变成),grow(变成),fall(变成某种状态),come(成为),run(变成)等。

3.联系动词没有被动式。

中文:

他保持沈默。

(误)Heisremainedsilent.(正)Heremainssilent.

4.除表示从一种状态转变为另一种状态的联系动词和在个别情况下的联系动词BE外,其他联系动词没有进行式。

Thedaysaregettinglongerandlonger.

白天越来越长。

Hewasonlybeingkindforthemoment.

他只是一时的仁慈。

中文:

他保持沈默。

(误)Heisremainingsilent.(正)Heremainssilent.

除最常见的be动词之外,有四类行为动词可起类似系动词的作用,其后跟一形容词或形容词化的分词。

1.表示人体感官功能的动词appear,feel,look,seem,smell,sound,taste。

这类动词后跟一形容词,表达人体感官受外界因素的刺激而对主语所表示的人或事物的特征、性质或状态作出的反应、判断或产生的结果。

例如:

Whydoessheappearsounhappytoday?

她为何今天显得如此郁郁不乐?

Whenspringcomesthegrassinmylawnsmellsfreshandsweet.

春天一到,我的草坪青草气味清新芬香。

Iamafraidyoursentencedoesn't soundcorrect.恐怕你的句子不大对。

Thechickensoupservedinthisrestauranttasteddelicious这家饭馆卖的鸡汤味道真不错。

2.表示变化过程的动词become,go,grow,run,turn,wear。

这类动词后跟一个表示特征的形容词或形容词化分词,表示事物从一种状态向另一种状态的变化或发展。

例如:

Youwillgrowwiserandwiserbypractice.实践使你变得越来越聪明。

Thesupplyoffreshwaterinthisareaisrunningshort.这个地区淡水供应越来越短缺。

Thestonestepshavewornsmooth.这些石阶已磨光滑。

Itisbecomingmuchmoreexpensivetotravelabroad.现在出国旅行费用贵多了。

这类动词中,go之后通常跟贬义形容词,表示向不好的方面发展。

例如:

Thepoormanwentblindattheageofthirty.

这个可怜人30岁时就失明了。

Fruitgoesrottenquicklyinhotweather.

水果在热天烂得快。

3.表示“延续”意义的动词continue,keep,lie,remain,rest,sit,stand,stay。

这类动词后跟一个状态形容词,表示这一状态的延续或保持。

例:

Wearegladtheweatherwillcontinuefineforsomedays.

天气将连续几天晴朗,我们真高兴。

Heisahard-workingmanandneverrestsidle.

他是个勤快人,从不闲懒。

Theplotnowstoodrevealed.

这个阴谋现已曝光。

Shesatrootedintheseatasifherbloodstoodstill.

她生了根似的坐在椅子上,身上的血液似乎凝固了。

Doingmorningexercisesisherrecipeforkeeping/stayingyoung.

做早操是她青春永驻的诀窍。

4.动词arrive,come,fall,get,prove。

这类动词后跟一个表示特征的形容词,表示事态发展的最终结果。

例:

Wrongnevercomesright.

错的永远不可能变成对的。

Nowthatyourchildrenhavearrivedsafeandsound,youcansetyourmindatease.

你的儿女已平安抵达,你可以放心了。

Thismethodprovedhighlyeffective.

这个方法证明行之有效。

这类动词中,get之后可用贬义形容词,表示不妙的结果。

好好照顾你母亲,她越来越虚弱了。

她越来越烦,越来越想家。
