【Abstract】《Thekiterunner》isthefirstfull-lengthnovelbytheafghan-americanauthorKhaledHosseini.ThebookrevolvesaroundthekiteandAfghanistanbetweentwoteenagers,arichboyandthefamilyservantsaboutthekitestory,aboutthebetrayalofhumannatureandredemption.Youthspiritualgrowthistheprocessofkiterunning,butalsotheprocessofself-redemption.Thebooktellsthestoryofwarmthandcruelty,beautyandsufferinginarealisticway.Itnotonlyshowsaperson'sspiritualgrowthhistory,butalsoshowsthesoulhistoryofanationandthesufferinghistoryofacountry.

ChapterOneIntroduction

Thestorybeginswithamir'sclosefriendshipwithhassan,theservant'sson.Amir,bornin1963,wasthesonofawealthyfamilyinKabul,Afghanistan.Hismotherdiedinchildbirthandhewasbroughtupbyhisfather.Amir'sfatherwasaverywealthybusinessman,andtheylivedinalargeandluxurioushouseinKabul.Aliandhassanlivedinamodesthouseinthebackyard.Thetwosetsoffatherandsonarenotonlydifferentineconomicclass,butalsoinsocialclass.Buttheirrelationshipisveryharmonious.Hassanandamirwerenotonlychildhoodplaymates,theywereraisedbythesamewetnurse.Althoughamirwashassan'smasterandayearolderthanhassan.Buthassanwouldaccommodateamirandhelphimwithanything.Butlater,amir'sjealousy,cowardiceandbetrayaldrovehimandhassanfurtherandfurtheraway.Eventuallyhegrewupandbecamemature.Amircouldnotforgetwhathehaddone26yearsago.HewentbacktoAfghanistantolookforhassan,buthassanhaddied.Andhelearnedthathassanwashishalf-brother.Thetruthofitalldeepenedhisapology.Later,hefoundhassan'schildrenandtookhimbacktotheUnitedStates.Attheendofthestory,amiraccompaniedtheemaciatedsohrabtoflyakiteinaplazaintheUnitedStates,chasingthekiteregardlessofhisimagination.Atthatmoment,hewassaved.Theatonementthathadspannedmorethan20yearswasfinallyover,andtherewaspeaceofmind.

Inthequietandstablechildhood,hassanandamirweresoclosefriendsthattheywereasgoodasbrothers.Nomatterwheretheywent,hassanwouldcloselyfollowamiranddoallkindsofthingsforhim.Everymorning,beforeamirwokeup,hassanhadpreparedbreakfastforhim.Whenassefwantedtobullythem,hassanbravelystoodupandbrokehisfearofthebullyassef.Hedaredtothreatenhimtohitassefwithaslingshotifhedaredtobullythemagain,soastoprotecttheyoungmasterfromharm.Hedevotedallhisloyaltyandlovetotheyoungmanwhohadgrownupwithhim.Hassanwassmartandbrave.Amirwasalittleweak.Inakite-fightingcontest,amirwasdeterminedtoprovehimselftohisfatherbywinningthechampionship.Hefinallygotthechampionshipashewished.Hassanhelpedhimpickupthefallenkite,buttheynevergotback.Theirrelationshipslowlybegantocrack

 

 

ChapterThreeearlyyouth:

Asweallknow,humannatureisflawed.Intheperiodofthinkingjumping,thepersonalitybecomesmulti-dimensional,andthedefectsofhumannaturearegraduallyexposed.Thereisnodenyingthatpeoplemakemistakesinadvertently.Mostpeople'sfirstreactionistoescape,hideorevencheat.Inshort,theydon'twanttofaceuptotheirmistakes,don'twanttotakeresponsibility,andareafraidofthepaincausedbyadmittingtheirmistakes.Somepeoplewillslowlyforgetwiththepassageoftime,butsomepeoplecan'tescapetheconscienceoftheblame,plantedaheartknot,suffering.Andthewayoutofitisonlytofaceit,totaketheirownresponsibility,escapecannotalleviatethepain.Ifhassan'sloyalty,courageanddefensehavegivenusapositiveexampleof"brothers",amir'sjealousy,cowardice,indifference,betrayalandframe-makingareinexcusablecounterexamples.Fromamir'sexperience,wecanseethatmistakes,likelies,aresnowballingandcannotbestoppedoncetheystart.Fromjealousyhasan'sbeloved,todeliberateinsultandteasing,andthentostandidlyby,inordertolethassanleavetohurtdeliberatelyframed,amirneverthoughthowtostopthefirstmistake,butlettingjealousyandcompetitivemoreandmorestrong,letindulgetheirownweaknessandselfishness:

ThisisracialdiscriminationinAfghanistan.Undersuchcircumstances,thebeautyofhumannatureisbornandthedefectsofhumannatureareexposed.Kiteisfree,everyoneofusshouldgotopursuetheirownkite,topursuethetruthandbeautyofthisworld.

Manyofushaveprobablyfacedasituationsimilartoamir's:

atsomepointinourlives,wehavehadadeepmistake,aflaw,aregret,evenanembarrassmentthatranklesandrankles.Eveniftherearethousandsofreflection,pain,remorseisdifficulttofindexports.Wemaynotsufferaslongasamirdoes,orwemaypretendtoforgetoccasionally,butaslongaswechoosetostayawake,thesememorieswillremain,likenightmares,hiddeninthebackofourminds.Nooneiswillingtoadmitthattheyaredepravedanduglyjustbecauseofonemistake.Therefore,we,likeamir,theprotagonist,arestrugglingtofindthekeytoopenourhearts.Intherepeatedstruggleandcontradiction,amirinthenovelgraduallycametorealizethat,infact,hewasnottheonlyonewithashamefulpast,hisfianceealsohadadeviantpast,hisrespectedfather,anoblefather,butalsobetrayedhisfriend,andhisfriend'swifeadultery...Everyonemakesmistakes,butunlikeamir,theydon'tkeeptheirguiltbottledupandtormentthemselveswithnothing.Fianceetothepastfranktotellherloverhasshownthatinfacthehascomeoutofthepast;Althoughhisfatherdidnotacknowledgehisyoungerbrother'sidentity,heshowedhisdeeploveforhassanwithhisownpracticalactions.Theyallchoosetofacetheunbearablepast.Amirhadachoice:

ChapterFivetheconclusion

Wegivetoohighanopinionandforgetthatitistherightthingtodo.Wegaveamirtoomuchtoleranceandunderstanding,butnoonesympathizedwithhassanandali.Ormaybeweshouldn'thaveputtoohighavalueonhumannatureinthefirstplace.Allofushavedonesomethinginouryouththatwewillbeashamedofinthefuture.Thesethingsmaybelikeshadowswithusforalifetime,leavingyoutolookatitwithyourheaddown.Buttimewillnotturnaround,trytomakeupfortheirown,itisnotaself-salvation?

Butpeoplearelikethis,alwaysliveinacertaintimelimit,wheretheworldmaybeafewyearslatereventheirowncannotunderstand,butthisiswecannotbreakthrough.Foryou,thousandsoftimes,coveredalloverwithcutsandbruisesorwillnotlookback,perhapsthisislife,lifeisnotonlydoworthwhilethings!

Wealwaysliketogiveourselvesalotofreasonstoexplaintheircowardice,alwaysdeceiveourselvestobelievethosebeautifullies,alwayshidetheirinnerfear,alwaystoescapetheircrimes.Butthetruthis,therewillcomeatimewhenwehavetocometotermswithourSINSandredeemourhearts.Lifeisaprocessofself-redemption,andself-redemptionisbuiltontheunderstandingoftheirownhumanshortcomingsandweaknesses.Whetheryoualsoinamoment,despisehumannature.Thehumannatureofordinarypeopleissinful,weak,depraved,limited.Idon'tliketodiscusshumannaturedeeply,becauseIdon'tknowmuchabouthumannature,andIdon'twanttoblameallthebadthingsonhumannature,forfearthatIwillbedisappointedinhumannatureandlife.I'mafraidIfeelsorryforthinkingthat'swhathumannatureis.Thismaybeakindofredemptionforme.Ithink,lifeisbornwithdefects,arealunderstandingofthepeopleontheline,hewillnotputthisdefectonthemouth,blamegodandothers.Buttolivewarmandstrong.
