“Accordingtoeconomictheory,higherwagesshoulddiscouragewell-educatedparentsfromquittingworktospendextratimewithyoungsters,”shesaidinastatement.“Also,theyhavethemoneytopayotherstocarefortheirchildren.However,thefactisthattheymanagetospareasmuchtimeastheycanfortheirchildren.”Treassaidthetrendmightbedueto“intensiveparenting”,theideathattimespentwithchildreniscriticalfordevelopment.
