Theplancallsforconstructionsitestolimitconstructionactivitythatcreateslargeamountsofdustaswellasasksindustrialenterprisestoreduceemissions(排放)duringdangerouspollutiondays.
Theplanalsocallsforeducationauthoritiestoinstructschoolstolimitorcompletelystopoutdooractivityduringperiodsofheavyairpollution.
TheurbanenvironmentalmonitoringcentersaidreadingsforPM2.5,orairborneparticlesmeasuringlessthan2.5micrometersindiameter,hadreachedmorethan700microgramspersquaremeteratseveralmonitoringstationsinBeijing,reachingashighas993onSaturdayevening.
“Thesefiguresrepresentextremelybadpollution.Pollutantshavegraduallyaccumulatedoverthecourseofrecentwindlessdays,makingtheairqualityevenworse,”saidZhuTong,aprofessorfromthecollegeofenvironmentalsciencesandengineeringatPekingUniversity.
“PrivatestockfirmsareseekingopportunitiestoinvestincleantechnologycompaniesinChina,especiallythosethatmayhelptoreduceairpollutionlongterm.However,thereisalongwaytogobeforetheoffthelevelsmogisstopped,”YuJianhuaadded.
