Duringthewarof1812,BritishtroopsburnedmostoftheinsideoftheWhiteHouse.JamesHobanhelpedrebuildit.Overtheyears,eachpresidenthasmadechangesoradditionstothebuilding.

TheWhiteHousewallsaremadeofstonethatispaintedwhite.Butthefamousbuildinghashadothernamesovertime,includingthePresident'sHouseandtheExecutiveMansion.Intheearly1900s,PresidentTheodoreRooseveltmadetheWhiteHouseitsofficialname.

Inthe1930s,PresidentFranklinRooseveltdecidedtorebuildandexpandpartofthebuildingthatbecameknownastheWestWing.SomeofthepublicroomsintheWhiteHousearenamedcolors.ThereistheBlueRoom,theGreenRoomandtheRedRoom.
