Today,withagloomingeconomyandrisingstatusamongallcountries,China,thebiggestdevelopingeconomyandlargestpopulationowner,isfacingmorechallengeseverbefore.US,thelargestimportnationandperhapsmostprosperouscountry.Therelationbetweenthebigtwoisofgreatsignificancetothewholeglobe.

In1972,theannouncementofChina-USjointcommuniquéproclaimedtheofficialthresholdofdiplomaticnormalization.Thelong-lastinghostilestatusbegantomelt.Thirtyyearslater,thetiebetweenthetwonationsbecomesincreasinglyintricate.Ononehand,theconcretebenefitgeneratefromthetwocountries’complementaryeconomyhasbroughtthemeverdependentoneachotherthananyperiodoftimebefore.Ontheotherhand,thedifferenceofpoliticstatus,nation’sdevelopingorientationandideologyofcivilizationcreatesconstantconflictsandargumentsthatintervenesthebondfrombecomingtighter.

Whenconsiderintheoverallsituation,ChinaandUSactslikefriendsandrivals.Theirmutualattitudeisinfluencedbyinterestandideology.Therelationshipdevelopsinameanderwayastimegoesby.

Economicaffairisthebiggestissueamongcountries.Withthehelpofopenandreformpolicy,basedonnaturaladvantagesofmineralandcheaphumanworkforce,Chinasucksinhugeamountoffundsindevelopingitsinternaleconomywhileexportsnumerouskindsofcargostothewholeglobe.BoththeUSandChinabenefitalotaftermutualcomplementaryeconomicrelationformed.Butthatdoesnotmeanthewhole.Conflictandtensionariseswhentradesurplusoccurs,alsowithseveralinterestgroups’malevolentattitudestowardsamoreprosperousChina.Theanti-dumpingaccusation,high-techexportprohibitionandchargeofcurrencymanipulatortowardsChinarevealsrapaciousthirstofinterestUSholdsindevelopingrelationsbetweencountries.ThemutablepoliciesthatAmericangovernmentissuealsohaveanimpactonpublicrelations

Thebigtwohavetheirownuniquewayindealingwithpoliticmatters.

Thoughthepoliticideologyofsocialstatusdifferssharply,ChinaandtheUShavetoseekcooperationindealingwithregionalaffairsinordertoprotectnation’sownsafetyandinterest.TheNorthKoreanuclearincidentissuchanoccurrencethatrequiresmultilateralmutualcooperation.

Ontheotherhand,inseekingglobalhegemony,shiftinginternalconflictsoutwardandsatisfyingthelustofcapitalism,USviewshimselfastheleaderoftheworld,constantlyattemptingtograbinterestfrominferiorcountriesandrespondfiercelywhenbeingintruded.ThisisabigdivergencefromChina’scurrentpolicy.Weseekpeaceful,reciprocalanddeferentialrelationbetweennations.DrivenbytheprofitandpoliticalbenefitwhileputtingChina’scoreinterestintoignorance,US‘smilitarysaletoTaiwanandunjustifiedperspectiveinTibethasdrawsignificantimpactonSino-USbilateralrelation.

Chinaandwesterncountriesdonotshareasameoriginofcivilization.Thismeansthatthedifferenceofculturalbetweencountriesmaybringaboutconflictsanddeputesceaselessly.Today,withthegradualdeepenofmutualunderstandingincivilization,oldhostileattitudesaregone.Inthemeantime,someofthemstayaliveorevensharpenedasaweapontoachievecreepygoals.Forexample:

theculturalinvasion,accusationofhumanrights,democracyandreligion.

Fromallthatabove,wecanseethattherelationofthebigtwohasitsownuniquenessapartfromcommonbilateralrelations.Conflicts,interestintrusionsandideologicaldisputesareconstant,however,allofthemlaidonthefoundationofmutuallydependenteconomy.Thoughtroublehappensandinsomecertainperiodsthetwosidesactedlikerivals,theyarealittlemorelikecooperators,forthefoundationtheystandonissosteadytowobble.

Futurestaysunclear,andapromisingfuturecallsforacommonconsensusofexpeditingmutualtrustandunderstanding,sharingcommoninterestandvalue.Whentroubleoccurs,itisinsightfultostaycalmandsane.Whatwecandoforthetwocountries‘relationisnotmuch,butweallhopingthatourcountrywillbecomepowerfulandprosperousagainandforall.
