Andthebubbleofbeautycanbeasomewhatlonelyplace.Onestudyin1975,forinstance,foundthatpeopletendtomovefurtherawayfromabeautifulwomanonthepathway—perhapsasamarkofrespect,butstillmakinginteractionmoredistant.“Attractivenesscanconveymorepowerovervisiblespace—butthatinturncanmakeothersfeeltheycan’tapproachthatperson,”saysFrevert.Interestingly,theonlinedatingwebsiteOKCupidrecentlyreportedthatpeoplewiththemostbeautifulpicturesarelesslikelytofinddatesthanthosewithlessperfectpictures.
