Justasanote,thereisoftenawidedivergencebetweenthetermsusedbymodernshoemakersandthetermsusedbymodernarcheologistsandcalceolgists.Weknowveryfewofthetermsusedbymedievalshoemakers,andfewerstillthosetermsusedbyEnglishshoemakers(sincethisdocumentisinEnglish).Therefore,mostofthesetermswillbemodern.Thosethataremedievalshoemakingtermswillbenotedinitalics.Modernshoemakingjargontermswillbeinboldface,andgivenpreference.Termsthatarenotdocumentablymedieval,butlikelyare,willbegiveninboldfaceditalics.Modernarcheologicaljargontermswillbeunderlined(Pleasetrynottoconfusethesewithhyperlinks,whicharealsounderlined).Specificsourceswillbenamedin[brackets].
