MelissaHallandJudyRogerspresentedinformationabouttheMathadoption.12memberswereinattendance.ThepresentationwasaboutFacilitiesandSafetybyFrankUrbina.Theneedofbetterlightingistobefulfilledbygoingthroughaprocess.Startattheschoolwiththeprincipal–theysubmitaworkorder.ThenyoumayneedtotalktotheAcademicOfficer,butstartwiththeprincipal.Thereare3levelsofimportance(triage)-someoneshouldrespond.

DuringtheCalltoAudienceMr.LarryBarryfromWrightstownElementaryandsisterschooltoHenryElementaryinformedtheboardofapartnershipwithOchoaElementarythatiseducatingstudentsinthebuildingofcomputers.Thisprogramisstrictlyvoluntaryonthestudentandfacilitatorparts.TheyhavemetonseveralSaturdaystotaredownandreassemblecomputersthatarebeingdonatedbyalocalcompanyforschoolusage.Theelementarystudentswereable,withtheassistanceofthefacilitators,todisassembleandreassemblecomputerstotheircompletion.Mr.Barryhopesthatthisventurewillspreadthroughoutthedistrictenablingourchildrentobebetterpreparedfortheirfutureeducationintechnology.
InremarksmadebyCherylBowmanofSCPCthenewofficerswereintroducedandwelcomedbytheboard.
Severalpresentationsweremade,firstbyTheProfessionalGroupPublicConsultingInc.,whohasbeencontractedbytheBoardtomakerecommendationsconcerningourassetmanagement.Newtrackingrecommendationsweremade,buttheoveralltoneofthepresentationwasthatwearelackingcontroloveroutassets.
TUSDAlternativeEducationwaspresentedbydirector,staffandeducatorsofthisportionofourdistrict.Regardlessofaslightdeclineofstudentsitisfeltthatwithoutthisprogramfarmorestudentswouldbedroppingoutunpreparedforpositivefutures.
ThefinalpresentationofnotewasmadeonourpayrollsystemPeopleSoft.Again,itwasstressedthatwefallshortinourtechnologycreatinganextremelycumbersomeprocessofaccountingforpayrollandbenefits.Itwasnotedthatmostofourineffectivenessisduetoextremelyantiquatedsystems,butahugefinancialoutputwouldbenecessarytobringthesesystemscurrent.Furtherassessmentwillbemadeandreportedwhenavailable.
Themeetingwasadjourned;Iwouldliketosaythatmyreportmayseemshortandsomewhatincomplete.IfeltalittlelikeIhadtunedintoanongoingsoapoperaandtherewasalotofinformationassumedthatIwasnotawareof.
