Abstract
TheJoyLuckClubhasbecomewell-knownsinceitwaspublished.Meanwhile,theauthorAmyTaniscelebratedforherbookandherthoughts.AmyTanisaChinese-Americanwriter.Duetoherspeciallifeexperience,shecanconstructacomplicatedliteratureworldforreaders.TheJoyLuckClubisanovelaboutcultureshockbetweenChinaandAmerica,includingfamilyeducationandmarriage.Itisaboutfourmothersandfourdaughters,forinstance,mothers'miserableexperiencewhentheywereyoungincludingtheirunhappymarriageandtheirunbearablelife,andhowtheygetridofthesesadmemoriesandgetbacktheconfidenceoflife.However,daughterswereborninAmerica,theygetAmericaneducationandholdAmericanthoughts.SotheyaredifferentfromtheirmotherswhowerelockedbytraditionalthoughtsofChina.Inthebook,therearemanyepisodesaboutconflictsbetweenmotheranddaughter.Daughterspursuepersonalityandfreedom,theyarenotwillingtoobeytheirmother.Buttheycannotgetridofthelifeinterventionoftheirmothertotally.Theirmarriage,inparticular,theytreatedastheirownbusiness.Butmothersthinkthattheyhavetherightandneedtogivesomesuggestion.Thedifferentideasofmothersanddaughtersarelikeaninvisiblegapbetweenthem.However,mothersanddaughtershavebeenlinkedforever,andtheyalwayshopeeachothercanbehappy.Inthenovel,womenwererankedlowinoldChinasociety,theymustbeobedienttotheirhusbandandtheyhadnorighttoshowtheirideasinpublic.AndthesameastrueinAmerica,womenalwaysstoodatalowerpositionthanmen.TheJoyLuckClubusesfeminismconsciousnesstoappealtopatriarchalsociety.Fromthestruggleofmothersanddaughtersfortheirsuccess,authorshowsthatfeminismconsciousnesshadrisensuccessfully.Thisthesisusesfeminismconsciousnessasasourceandtellsreadershowthosewomenchangetheirunbearablelifestepbystep.Throughanalysisoffeminismconsciousnessawakening,thispaperattemptstodrawmoresocialattentiononwomen'ssocialstatus.

《喜福会》一经发表就轰动一时。
同时,它的作者谭恩美也因这部著作以及她的思想而享誉全球。
谭恩美是一名美籍华裔作家,由于她特殊的生活经历,构筑起一个复杂的文学世界,为广大读者带来了一场文学的饕餮盛宴。
《喜福会》是一部关于中美文化冲突,家庭教育,婚姻等的小说。
书中写了四位母亲和她们的女儿的故事。
其中包括母亲们年轻时的遭遇,如她们不幸的婚姻,她们所承受的生活磨难,以及她们如何摆脱痛苦的记忆,从新拾起生活的信心。
女儿们都在美国出生,接受了美式教育,拥有美式思维,不再像她们的母亲一样为中国的传统思维束缚而苦恼。
书中很多地方描写到女儿们和母亲们的冲突。
她们追求个性和自由,不愿被母亲左右思维。
但是,她们却不能完全摆脱母亲对她们生活的干预,尤其是他们认为的只属于自己的婚姻。
母亲们则认为自己有权力和必要给女儿一些婚姻的建议。
母女意见的不和,让他们之间横亘着一条隐形的鸿沟。
然而,母亲和女儿间永远有一条隔扯不断的线。
他们永远希望彼此能够幸福。
书中写到,在传统的旧中国,女性的地位是比较低下的:
在家里她们得听从丈夫;在社会上他们也没有说话的权力。
即使是在新兴的美国,女性的地位也不能完全得到认可,他们总是处在比男性更低一等的位置上。
《喜福会》以女性主义的视角来为广大的女性申诉,通过母亲和女儿为悲苦的命运抗争,直到最后的胜利,充分体现了女性主义意识的成功崛起。
一开始他们选择沉默,忍气吞声,但是最后他们终于打破了沉默,努力改变自己的命运,最终成为自己生活的主宰。
本篇论文以女性主义意识为源头,挖掘女性们如何一步步改变不堪的命运,旨在加深读者对女性主义意识的认识,呼唤社会对广大女性的关注,加大解决女性问题的力度。

Introduction
TheJoyLuckClubhasbecomewell-knownsinceitwaspublished.Meanwhile,theauthorAmyTanwascelebratedforherbookandthoughts.AmyTanwasaChinese-Americanwriter.Forherspeciallifeexperience,shecouldconstructacomplicatedliteratureworldforreaders.TheJoyLuckClubdescribedasubtlefeelingbetweenmothersanddaughters.Anditwasnotonlygettingalotofrewards,butalsowasfilmedandbecameanotedfilm.Inrecentyears,manypeoplebecomeinterestedinthethoughtsoffeminismofthisbook.Withthedevelopmentofsociety,women'ssocialstatusisupgrading.However,therearestillexistingmanyquestionsthatsocietycannotdealwithatashorttime.TheJoyLuckClubreflectedsometraditionalwomen'sinnerheart,andshowedthatallofthemcouldhandletheirtoughsituationsuccessfully.Inthisbook,mothersanddaughterswerestrugglingfortheirunluckyfateorunhappylives.Atfirst,theyweresilent,theychosetogrinandbearit.Butatlast,theybecamethemasteroftheirlife.Theybrokethesilenceandshoutedouttheirneeds.Theybecamebravetochangetheirunfortunatefate.Wecanfindthatinthisbookeverywomanusedtoexperienceahardlife,buttheycouldholdonandseethehopeoflife.Wecandiscoverthestrongconsciousnessoffeminismshowedonthosewomen.
Thisthesisfallsintofourchapters.Thefirstpartisintroduction,andthesecondoneisabouttheconsciousnessoffeminism.Inthepart,theauthordiscussessomethingaboutfeminism,including,itsdefinition,itssort.Thethirdpartandtheforthpartarethecenterofthisthesis.Theauthorwritestheunfairfateofthosewomenandtheirstrugglingandfightingatlast.Thelastpartisconclusion.Theauthorgivesasummaryoftheawakeningofthosewomen'sfeminism.
1.Feminism
1.1TheRisingofFeminism
“Feminismbeginswiththepremisethatwomen'sandmen'spositioninsocietyareresultofsocial,notnaturalorbiologicalfactors.Theydobelievethatwomen'sexperiences,concerns,andideasareasvaluableasthoseofmenandshouldbetreatedwithequalseriousnessandrespect”(L.Andersen,2003:
9).Feminismisacollectionofmovementsaimedatdefining,establishing,anddefendingequalpolitical,economic,andsocialrightsforwomen.Inaddition,feminismseekstoestablishequalopportunitiesforwomenineducationandemployment.Although,thelivingsituationofwomenisdifferent—thedifferenceofregion,thedifferenceofrichandpoor,thedifferenceofcultureandrace,theyhavethesamepoint:
comparetomen,theyareinthelowerposition.Alongtimebefore,womanwastreatedunfairly.Theyhavetolistentotheirhusband.Theywerealmostunderthecontrolofmen.Theyhadnothavethesamerightsasmen.Theyhavenorighttovote,theyhavenorighttowork,andtheyhadtostayathomewhentheygotmarried.Theycouldnotgotoschooljustlikemen.Inaword,womenweretreatedastheappendageofmen.In17thcentury,EnglishpeopleMaryAstellbecameanotedfeministandputforwardherpointsaboutfeminism.“Sexdifferencesarebiological,butgenderencompassesallthetraitsthatacultureassignstoandinculcatesinmalesandfemale”(Kottak,2005:
185).Atthattime,Englandwasgoingintoindustrialsociety,manyfactoriesbegantoacceptwomenworkers.Meanwhile,thedivisionoflaborofsocietyhadbeenchanged.Womenwerenotonlybelongingtohome,theycouldgoouttofindajob.
1.2BranchesofFeminismConsciousness
Thefirstoneisliberalismfeminism.Thiskindoffeminismpromotedreasonandchallengethetraditionalauthority.Itsupportedthatwomenandmenhadthesamerightinsociety.Everyonehadtheequalchancetorealizethemselves.Theyhavethesameopportunitytodeveloptheirpotential.Inaword,womenandmenwerethesame,theyshouldbetreatedequallyinsociety.Soliberalismfeministsthoughtthatifwomenhadthesamechanceasmen,theycouldbesuccessful.Andtheythoughtthatwomenandmenhadthesamerighttogeteducation.Theythoughtthatwomenwerenotcleverasmenbecausetheyhadnochancetogotoschool.Thesecondoneissocialismfeminism.Thiskindoffeminismadvocatedthatpeopleshouldnotdividethesocietytotwoparts,themenandwomensoclear.Becauseofthedivision,womenweretreatedunfairly.Thesocialismfeministsthoughtthatifwomenwantedtochangetheirsocialposition,theyneededtofightforthesamechance,alsotheyneededtohelptobringaboutabill.Andtheirtargetwasthatwomenandmenshouldgetthesameincomeandgetthesamejobs.
