AnewstudyfromtheUniversityofWashingtonintheU.S.seemstoconfirmthis.Dr.NathanielWatsonwastheleadwriterofthestudy.Watsonsayshisstudyshowsthattheimmunesystemworksbestwhenthebodygetsenoughsleep.Forthestudy,Watsonandhisteamstudied11pairsoftwins.Thisisanimportantdifferencefromothersleepstudies.Otherresearchdidnotstudytwins.Researchersfoundthatthetwinwhosleptlesshadaweakerimmunesystem.

Watsonsayshisstudyshowedforthefirsttimethatalong-termlack(缺乏)ofsleepshutsdownpartsoftheimmunesystem.Hesayspartsthatmovewhitebloodcellsaroundthebodyareinfluenced.Whitebloodcellsfightinfectionsinthebody.

Watson’sstudyprovidesmoreevidence(证据)thatsleepisimportantto“overallhealth”.Andsleepisespeciallyim

portanttoimmunehealth.
