Thismeansthatbusinessisoftencloselyconnectedtofamilyandthatthereisafamilynetworkthatbranchesoutregionallyandinternationally,providingefficientpolitical,financialandemotionalsupport,aswellasdistributionknowledge.ThisnetworkingisparticularlyobviousamongChinesewhocontrolhugebusinesssegmentsinAsiaandarebyfarthemostsuccessfulbusinessgroupintheregion.Theirlargepresencealsohelps--Singaporeis77percentChinese;Malaysia,45percent;Taiwan,aChineseprovince,99percent.IndonesiaandthePhilippinesalsohavesizableandprosperousChinesecommunities.ItisexplainedthattheimportanceoffamilygoesbacktoConfucius,whotaughtthatfamilyrepresentsrelationshipsthatonecantrust.AlthoughfamiliesintheWestmaybeconnected,theyarealmostneverascloselyconnectedasinConfucianAsia.ThisfamilydependenceisalsotreeinKorea.ThelargestcorporationinSouthKoreaisHyundai,amultibillion-dollarcompany.Headedbytheeldestbrother,thecompany'sfivemajordivisionsareeithermanagedbyoneofthefivebrothers,abrother-in-laworason-in-law.
