Lastweek,afterourgroup’sdiscussion,ourgroupborrowedfourbooksfromlibrary.Wewereverylucky.Thelibraryhadfourbooksaboutthisoneprecisely.Everyonehadonebook.ThetitleofthisbookisTheThreeMusketeers.Thisbookisahistoricalnovel(Historicalfictionisaspecificgenre,setinthepastandpertainingtohistoricaleventsorpeople,withcharacterswhoreactinvaryingdegreestohistoricalevents.Theworkmustwalkafinelinebetweenfactandfiction:

presentinghistoricaldetailsaccurately,thefactualeventsmustbeprominenttotheplot---andcorrect,historicalcharactersmustbepresenttoindicatethehistoricaltimeperiod,buttakingartisticlicensetoinsertfictitiouscharactersandeventsasameansofilluminatingthechosensubject.Thenoveloriginatedintheearly18thcenturyaftertheItalianword"novella,"whichwasusedforstoriesinthemedievalperiod.Theprimarycharacteristicofhistoricalfictionnovelsisarealistichistoricalsetting.Likeotherfictionalgenres,historicalfictionreliesonanauthenticsenseofplace.Thesettingofahistoricalnovelisbroughttolifebydetailed,factualportrayalsofthesetting'sgeography,culture,societyandcustoms.Anothercharacteristicofhistoricalfictionnovelsisthatofauthenticcharacters.Theprimarycharactersinhistoricalnovelsareusuallyimaginary,butsupportingcharactersmaybeactualhistoricpersonages.Whiletheprimarycharactersmaynotplayacentralroleinthenarrativeofthenovel,theyareusuallymoreimportantthanthesurroundingsettingsandevents.Justasthisbook,thetitleofthisbookisTheThreeMusketeersanditrecountstheadventuresofayoungmannamedArtagnan.However,heisnotoneofthethreemusketeers.Thenovelisabouthisbecomingoneofthethreemusketeers.).TheauthorofthisbookisAlexandreDumax.HeisFrench.ThisisaFrenchbook.Later,Itistranslatedintodifferentlanguagesintheworld.ThebookwhatwereadisasimplifiedforminEnglishfromZhangXiaMei.Wehadreaditlastweek,soonthisSunday,wegottogetheranddiscusseditagain.Weneededtogetthisreportoutaboutthisbook.Inaccordancewithourteacher’srequirement,weneedtotalkaboutlotsofaspects,suchasthetheme,theauthor,themainidea,importantdetailsofthisbook,theorganizationandsoon.Originally,Ithoughtthatitwaseasyforustofinishtheassignment.However,it was not as easy as I thought.Itcontainssomanyimportantaspectsfromthisbook.Ifwewanttoknowthethemeortheimportantdetainscorrectlyandclearly.Itisnotsoeasyforustodoitinacertaintime.Ourgroupthoughtitwashardforustofinishit.

Afterdiscussion,wedecidedtoassigntasksforeverymember.Then,wefoundaclassroom.Allofusstartedtowriterespectiveparts.Finally,wefinisheditthroughworkinghardforalmostthreehours.However,itdidn’tmeanthatwehavecompleteassignmenttotally.Wehadtosortoutthematerialsandparagraphsfromeveryone.Atthesametime,wealsoneededtomakeapptaboutthisbook.Itcontainssomanyimportantparts.WehadtoinquireaboutsomeimportantmaterialsincludinginformationandpicturesfromtheInternet.Afterfinishingthereportandaccumulateacertainmountofinformation,westartedtomakeappttogether.After several hours, we got the job done basically.Butitrequires considerable modification.Allofussawitagainaftergoingback.Later,wejustfinishedit.Thisistheprocessofourgroup’scorporation.

TherearethreemainthemesIthinkimportantinTheThreeMusketeers;Quests,Love,andBrotherhood. Likemanyyoungheroes,d'Artagnanisfirstandforemostonaquesttogainhisownfortune. Althoughhehasbeenbornintoroyalty,hestillmustprovehimselfworthyofthepositionofMusketeer. Withaidfromafriendofhisfather's hebecomesaguard,andbecauseofhisinquisitivenessandpride,heisabletoprovehisworthandbecomeaMusketeer.

AnaffairbetweentheQueenandBuckinghamalsoprovidesanotherquest,thistimefortheMusketeerstoconcealtheaffairandarrangeforthetwotohavesecretrendezvous'.However,therearequiteafewdiscussionsbetweenmoremodernreadersandthoseoftraditionsastowhetherthisismerelyatrivialmattercomparedtothepoliticalissuesofthetime. Onemustremember,however,thecodeofhonorthattheMusketeersbelievein,trueloveaboveallelse.
