Introduction
Withthedevelopmentofsociety,theproblemofthetrafficsystemhasbeenabigproblemandtheestablishmentofthetrafficsystemhasbeeninbadlyneed.InAmericathetrafficspeeddecreasedtonomorethan
duetohightrafficdensityduringpeak-houronthefreewayin1990s.Asaresulttheproblemcausedgreateconomiccost.[1][2]Toimprovethetrafficperformancewestudyhowthetrafficperformanceisinfluencedbysomefactorsbasingonthekeep-right-except-to-passtrafficrule.
Inmostcountriesdrivingontherightistheruleandinothercountriesdrivingontheleftistherule.Sodrivingruleslikethismayhaveaninfluenceontrafficperformance.Theinfluencefactorsincludethetrafficflow,thetrafficsafetyandtrafficspeedwhichisrelatedtothetrafficspeedlimits.Basingonthesefactorsweshouldanalyzethemutualeffectamongthemandgettheevaluationofthetrafficperformance.Themodelisconstructedbasedontheruleofdrivingright,sowhentheruleischanged,weshouldanalyzetheresultsandfindabetterrulewhichcanimprovethetrafficflow.Furthermorewhenthetrafficsystemisintelligent,theresultsaredifferentbasedthemodelwehavebuilt.
Nowtherearemanystudiesabouttrafficperformanceincludingsomesystemsoftrafficsafety,lanechangingmodelsandsoon.Howeverthesestudiesnearlyneglecttheinfluenceofthetrafficrulessuchasthekeep-right-except-to-passtrafficrule.Soourmodeltakethetrafficruleintoconsiderationandthatistosayweconstructmodelsbasingonthisrule.
Inaddition,tosimplifyourmodelweonlyconsidertrafficsafety,trafficflowandtrafficspeed.Weusesomeindextoquantifyallthefactorsinordertoassessthetrafficperformance.Soourmodelcanhelppeopletofindabettertrafficperformancebasedondifferentrules.
