DearSirorMadam,

IwouldliketoapplyfortheEnglish-TaughtMasterdegreeinCommunicationEngineering,whichstartsinDecember2011.IamaBSc（Eng）inTelecommunicationsEngineeringwithManagement,whichisajointdegreeprogrambetweenBeijingUniversityofPosts&Telecommunications（BUPT）andUniversityofLondon.

ReasonsforchoosingCEofRWTHAachen

Ihadspentnearlytwoyearsseekingthewayofmylifefrom2007till2009.

Initially,asafreshman,IconcentratedontheworkofStudentUnionandBeijingIETYME（InstitutionofEngineeringandTechnologyYongMemberSection）.Asaresultofmyhardwork,Iwaselectedvicepresidentinthethirdsemester.However,insteadoffeelingmuchpleasureandexcitement,Icouldnotworkuptoomuchenthusiasmfortheiterativeactivities.

ThenIunderstoodthattheworkoforganizationmanagementdidn’treallyfitme.Naturally,Itransferredmyfocustostudy.IwasheartilysatisfiedwhenIovercamepuzzleseventhoughthetwo-yeardistractionbroughtmegreatdifficultiesatthebeginning.Sincethen,Istartedtorealizethatthisshouldbethewayofmylife.

IalsofoundthatIammostattractedbysubjectconcernswithcommunicationsystemsandexcelledincoursessuchasIntroductiontotheCommunication,TelecommunicationSystems,SignalsandSystemsTheory,InternetProtocols,DigitalSignalProcessingandMicrowave&OpticalTransmission.

Throughthesecourses,IlearntthesimpleinfrastructureofcommunicationsystemandbasictheoriessuchasSampling,Quantization,ChannelCoding,QueuingTheory,FourierTransforms,WirelessNetwork,DigitalFilterDesignandRoutingProtocol.However,Iwasstillconfusedwithquestionslikewhatparameterswouldinfluencethepracticaloperationofequipment,howtointegratethesingleunits,howcanImakeimprovementtoavoiddisadvantagesofexistingtheories.

Inthesummerof2010,IparticipatedinschoollaboratorywhichtookchargeofMIMOSystemoptimization,oneofnationalkeyscientificresearchprojects.Ikeenlyfeltthelackofknowledgeoverthatperiod,andwasfiguringhowtoexactlycalculatethechannelcapacityindifferentconditions,howtoinstantlytransferchannelstateinformation（CSI）totransmitterantennas,howtoapplytheidealmodelinthecomplexrealities.Ifoundthesequestionsveryfascinating.

Obviously,itisimpossibletosolvethosequestionswiththecurrentknowledgeIleantinmyundergraduateperiod,thusIdecidedtofurthermystudy.Anotherimportantreasonisthatwhatwelearntlagsfarbehindreality,whichcan’tsupportmeinoperatingadvancedequipment.Forexample,the8051microcontrollerIlearntinthecourseof‘MicroprocessorSystemDesign’wasappliedin1990s.

Whiledoingmicrowaveexperiment,myteachermentionedthatamongthetopthreecompanies:

Anritsu,ROHDE&SCHWARZandAgilent,whichproduceVNA,R&Sownstheunparalleledpredominancecomparedwiththeothertwocompanies.

Germanyownsthemostadvancedtechnologies,thebestresearchgroups,first-rateindustrialtechnologyandrigorouseliteeducationsystem,whichstrengthenmywishtocontinuemystudiesinGermany.RWTHAachenUniversity,whichisamongthebestinGermany,enjoysanexcellentinternationalreputationandbringstogethermanydistinguishedscholarswhoaregloballeadersintheirrespectivefields.Additionally,thecooperationrelationshipwithlargeenterprisescannotonlydevelopmyresearchskillsbutalsoexpandmypointofviewandenlightenmetothinkcriticallyandcreatively.

IwasluckytofindoutthatAachenhassetupCEon2010AutumnInternationalEducationExhibitionTour，thereforeIsetitasmygoalwithoutanyhesitation.

ExpectationofstudyinginGermany

Expectfortheacademicgoalmentionedabove,Iwishtohavein-depthunderstandofGermancultureaswell.

Ihavealwaysbeeninterestedinphilosophyasitprovidesmeanswerstomylife.Amonggreatphilosophers,HegelistheoneIadmiremost.NearlyallthemodernphilosophicalschoolshavedrawnfromthetheoryofHegeleventhoughithasbeenrecognizedthatseveralpointsofHegelareincorrect.Frommyownpointofview,adultsareadultsbecausetheycanlogicallyconsideranddealwithevents.Withsuchphilosophicalatmosphere,IbelievethattostudyandliveinAachenwillenhancemyunderstandingofmylifeandmyfuture.

Besides,Iamkeenonafootballandhadcomeinthirdinfootballmatchasarepresentingmyclass.IalwaysadmiretheexcellentteamspiritandconsummatetechniquesofGermany.Moreover,OliverRolfKahnisoneoftheplayersIlikebest.LivinginGermany,atop-rankingfootballlevelnation,thefantasticfeelingofplayingwithkindredfriendsreallymakesmeexcited.

FuturePlan

IplantobeanengineerafterachievingmydoctoraldegreeandserveinacooperationconnectingChinaandGermany.IbelievethatwithfamiliarizationofbothGermanyandChineseculture,IcanperformwellatmyjobandmakeacontributiontoenhancefriendshipbetweenChinaandGermany.

它的目的在于让申请者清楚的表达出来个人基本情况、申请学校及专业的原因以及未来的职业构想。

我们根据这3个部分逐一说明：

　　1--个人基本情况：

与个人简历不同，这里的个人基本情况是要着重表述个人的学习和工作期间的主要业绩。

　　2--申请原因：

明确阐述申请某某学校以及某某专业的理由，要告诉校方这个学校为什么吸引你，学习这个专业对你有什么帮助。

　　3--未来职业构想：

具体说明在毕业之后，你准备从事的工作。

切忌使用贡献、奉献、报效之类空洞的词汇，而应该表明去什么企业、公司，在什么职位上负责什么工作，并且最好把预期的年薪也写出来。

也许很多学生会说：

以后的事情现在怎么能知道？

其实，学校就是想了解你是否有明确的求学目的，并允许学生有根据、符合逻辑的设想。

　　另外，在申请高等商学院的时候，学校还会特意让学生谈谈自己的优缺点和性格特征。

　　留学动机信一定要具体并且全文贯通、有前因和后果，按照西方人的说法就是有逻辑性。

在撰文时，一定要以具体事例配合你所表达的中心思想，使文章显得生动。

总之一句话：

具体、生动、逻辑性强、中心思想明确。

SincemyearlydaysasachildIwasfondofexploringhowthingswork.Iwasthatkidwhodisassemblesorsmasheseverytoyhehastoknowhowitworks.Ihavedevelopedaratherintuitiveandprofoundfascinationinexploringtheelectronicgadgets,especiallywithregardtotheirconstructionandoperation.ThisfascinationforeverythingelectronicpromptedmetotakeupMathematics,PhysicsandChemistryasmycourseofstudyinmyhighersecondaryschool.IreceivedhighgradeswithdistinctionasIfinishedamongthetop5%inmyschool.ThismademeabletofulfillmydreamwithsecuringanadmissiontofacultyofengineeringatXXXUniversity,oneofthetopuniversitiesinXXX.

Inmygraduationthesis,Iwasworkingonaresearchprojecttoestablishalowcost,robust,wirelessAdHocnetworkbetweenthemovingvehicles,withouttheneedofenterpriseinfrastructure.Weresearchedthedifferentnetworkarchitecturesthatcanbeused.MyresponsibilitywaschoosingthebestRFlinktobesuitabletohandlethehighmobilitychallengesofthemovingcarsenvironmentsuchastheDopplereffectthatshiftsthecarrierfrequencyandveryshortconnectiontime.MyworkincludedmodifyingtheWi
