摘要

爱伦•坡是美国19世纪浪漫主义小说家，诗人和文艺批评家。

EdgarAllanPoeisapoet,writerandcriticofAmericanRomanticMovementinthe19thcentury.Hethinksthatthepurposeofpoetryistocreatebeauty,becauseonlysupernalbeautycanarousetheinterestsofcommonpeople..Poemakesuseofseveralmethodsandmeanstodepictthesupernalbeautyincludingimages、themes、sounds、rhetoric、atmosphereandemotions.HolybeautyisachievedthroughthedescriptionofHelen,theclassicalbeauty;LostbeautyisexperiencedbyhimwhenPoewitnesseshisbelovedwomendepartoneafteranother;Remotebeautyiscreatedwhileheissearchingforthepast;Gothicbeautyistouchedjustwhenheissufferingthehorror.Inthisessay,supernalbeautyisclassifiedintotwocategories:
