Forabookthattooktenyearstowrite,youcantell.Thestoryissoindepthandthelanguagesthatwerecreatedsocompletethatyoucanalmostfeellikethisisanactualworld.Wordofadvice,readTheHobbitfirstthenexpandintothisbookbecauseTheHobbitflowsintothisbook.AlsowatchingthemoviesafterreadingthesebooksgivesyousomuchinsightthatuponfirstviewingImissed.ThecharacterizationinsomeofthebestIhaveeverread.UnfortunatelythemoviesdidnotportraymyfavoritecharacterinthebookwhichwasTomBombodilandanyonewhohasreadthiswouldprobablyagreewithme.Againthebookisfantastic,youjustneedtoreadittoappreciateit.

Thestoryfollowsthelivesofseveralpeopleofdifferentsocialstandingsallwooingeachother.Thisresultsinpeopleofcompletelydifferentattitudesandmannerismsactuallyfindinglovewitheachother.HumorousattimesandtheeasiestofAusten'sworkstoread.

ThestoryisacrossbetweenTheChroniclesofNarniaandTheLordoftheRings,lessindepththanRingsandlesspreachythanNarnia.Thecrossbetweenthetwostoriesthattakesthebestofboth.Veryquickandeasytoread.Theplotisaboutparalleluniversesandhowacouplekidsaredestinedtosaveusall.Itiswellwrittenandaveryfastread(about1000pagesinabout2weeks).Intheendalltheplotlinesgetwrappedupneatly,althoughIdisagreewithhowitendedalthoughtherewasnootherwayitcouldhavegone.ThestoryisveryenthrallingnotlettingmeputitdownthefurtherIwentintothestory.

TheplotfollowsonemanwhogetstransportedoffEarthjustasitisabouttobedestroyed,thenfollowinghimasheisshuffledaroundthegalaxy.Thefollowingbooksalsocontinuetheplotlineandareenjoyabletoreadaswellalthoughthelastcouplearealittlebizarreandkindofdestroyallthepreviousplotline.

ThisisonthelistmostlybecauseofthemoviesI'msure,butitisreallygoodnone-the-less.Thewaythebookissetup,iseachchaptercontainsadifferentadventurewithWinnie-the-PoohandhisfriendsintheHundredAcreWoods.TheuniquelanguagethatAAMilneuseswouldbeconsideredpoorinmostcasesbuthedoesitinsuchacomedicwaythatitworks.Thebeststoriesinthebookwerethefirstfewwhichwereshorterthantherest.Thelongerthestoriesgotthemorethelanguagedidn'tseemtoworkbutoverallIwouldrecommendthisbook.
8.1984byGeorgeOrwell Itisaverypowerfulnoveldealingwithatotalitariansocietyandhowonemightsurviveinthatsociety.TheproblemIhadwiththisbookwastheutterhopelessnessofit.Througheverypage,everyparagraphofthebookyouhadahopethatthismayendallrightandthateverythingwillberightintheworldagain.Butafterallissaidanddone,youknewthatitwouldn't.Averydepressingbookbutadefinitemustread,ifonlytoshowandwarnpeoplejustmightbepossible.Becauseyouneverknow.

Althoughitisakid'sbookthisisagoodbook,andwillbeenjoyedbykidsofallages.ThechaptersoftheNarniaserieswrittenlaterbecamealotmorepreachythenthefirstfew,butitisnotbadenoughtodrivepeopleaway.Thatwouldhavetobemyonlypetpeeveaboutthestories.Thestorylinefollowsabunchofkidswhofindthemselvesinanotherworldbygoingthroughamagicalwardrobeandfindthemselvesdrawnintoanalloutwarofgoodversusevil.Definitelyonthemustreadlist.
10.JaneEyrebyCharlotteBronte ItfollowsthelifeofthetitlecharacterasshestartsinanorphanageandeventuallygoesontolivewithMr.Rochester.Afunromanticnovelwithanairofmystery.
11. Catch-22byJosephHeller
12.WutheringHeightsbyEmilyBronte Mostofthestorytakesplaceasaflashbackofoneoftheformerhousekeepers.Itisalittleconfusingandun-enjoyableatfirstbecauseoftheeruditelanguagesheused,butafterafewchaptersIgotusedtoit.Aftertheflashbackitshowsanorphanedchild,Heathcliff,broughtbacktothehousewhoisshunnedbyall,whoeventuallytakesovereverything.Sincemostofthisisknownatthestartofthestory,itisinterestingtoseehoweverythingcomesaboutandtoseehowtwoseparatefamilieswhodifferineverything(intelligence,strength,andhealthintermingle).Onmymustreadanditshouldbeonyours.
