Atonepoint,McFarlendecidedtogetinvolvedwiththeSouthCentralFoodBankofMichiganInc.tohelpgivebacktothoseinneed.Afterthat,heknewhehadtodomoretohelphiscommunityandreducehisfoodwaste.

McFarlencameupwithaplantoopenarestaurantinthecommunitythatwouldalsohelpsupportafoodpantry(储藏室).AfterpresentingtheideatoFireKeepersleadership,theyimmediatelyapprovedtheplanandagreedtohelpMcFarlenrealizehisdream.

InAprilof2016,theownersoftheFireKeepersCasinoHotelboughtFireStationNo.4,ahistoricfirehouseneardowntownthathadbeenclosedforyearsandwasduetobepulleddown.Thegroupstartedtransformingthefirestationintoarestaurantandfoodpantrytohelppeoplestrugglingfortheirnextmeal.

OnApril19,2017,therestaurantopenedtothepublicforthefirsttime.Atthesametime,thefoodpantryopeneditsdoorinthebackofthebuilding.
