Whales,likedolphins,belongtoagroupofmammals(哺乳动物)called“cetacean”.ThisnamecomesfromaLatinwordmeaning“largeseaanimal”.Thereareatleastseventy-fivekindsofcetaceans.Scientistsdividethevariouskindsintotwomajorgroups—baleenwhales,whichdonothaveteeth,andtoothedwhales,whichhaveteeth.
