Abstract

AsChina'sreformandopening-upfurtherdeepens,andtheexchangesbetweenChinaandforeigncountriesexpanddaybyday,theforeignlanguageeducationrequirementswillbehigher.However,facingthevariousproblemsduringtheprocessofreform.OurcountryandforeigncontactsandChina'sincreasingforeignexchanges,weshouldspeedupthepace,makegreateffortstooptimizevariousfactorsofinfluencingtheforeignlanguageteaching,suchasforeignlanguageeducationPolicy,syllabus,textbook,teachingaid,teacher'squality,teachingmethod,examinationwayandstudentself-factor,etc.China'sForeignLanguageTeachingshouldbefurtherdeveloped.,westillhavealongwaytogo.

摘要

随着我国改革开放的进一步深入,我国和外国的交往日益扩大,对外语教育的要求将更高,我们应加快步伐,努力优化影响我国外语教学的各种因素,如外语教育政策、教学大纲、教材、教具、教师素质、教学方法、考试方式和学生自身因素等,使我国的外语教学得到进一步的发展,但是要对教学改革提出了新的挑战,面临诸多问题,我国的教育还有很长一段路要走。

1.Developmentofforeignlanguageteachingofourcountry

Asearlyas1727,theQinggovernmenthasopenedaRussianMuseuminBeijingforRussianteaching,whichisthebeginningofmodernforeignlanguageinourcountry.ButinsemifeudalandsemicolonialoldChina,theeducationfallsbehind,fewpeoplehastheopportunitytostudyEnglish.ThereforetheEnglishteaching'sscaleisnotbig,thescopeisnotbroad.

SincenewChinawasfoundedin1949,ourcountry'sforeignlanguageteachingenteredabrand-newprosperoustime.Butregrettably,fromtheperiodsof1953to1957andthedisorderchaotictenyearsafter1966,forthepoliticalreason,ourcountry'sEnglishteachingreceivesanimproperrepel.Theforeignlanguageteachinghassufferedunprecedenteddevastation,oncesankintohalt.

Sincethereformandopeningupin1977,withtherestorationofChina'shighereducationentranceexaminationsystem,Englishhasbecomethemainentranceofoneofthecompulsorysubjects,"Englishfever"risequicklyaccompaniedbythefanaticalquestforknowledge.Teachingmethodshavebeengreatlydeveloped,too.

Inthefirst10yearsofreformandopening-up,Englishteachersfocusedonteachingpracticalproblemsincarryingouttheresearch,hasbeenaccumulatedsometeachingexperience.Forexample,howtocarryoutmiddleschoollisteningandspeakingactivities,howtoimplementtheprincipleof“listeningandspeakingfirst,folllowedbyreadingandwriting”,howtomaketeachingsituationalpatternsandimprovethecommunicationcapacity.HowtomakefocusonreadinganddoingwellinTextteaching.

Inthe1990s,trainingtheabilityoflanguagecommunicationbecomeaobjectivesofteachingcurriculum,isthekeynoteofthepreparationofteachingmaterials,teachingEnglishorguidingprinciples.Notonlythetoneoftextbook’smaterial,butalsotheGuidingPrinciplesofEnglishteaching.Asaresult,theEnglishteachingmethodswiththeideaCommunicationintopeople’sheart.ThemethodswiththecharacteristicsofCommunicationstepintotheclassroom.Themethodswithcommunicationfunctionbecomeverypopular.Alargenumberofachievementswhenresearchtheaspectsofformofactivities,teachingprocess,languageteachingknowledgeandlanguageskills,etc.

Intheearly21stcentury,foreignlanguageeducationhasenteredanewperiod----“Latterteachingmethodtime”.Thepeoplehaverealizedthattherewasnotonemulti-purposeteachingmethodinworld,onlythenembarksfromthereality,onlybyproceedingfromreality,accordingtothespecificpurposeofteaching,teachingobjects,thenativeenvironment,teachingconditions(classsize,thenumberofhours,thequalityofteachers,teachingmethods,etc.)andtheneedsoftheteachingstage.Itisflexibilitytouseappropriatemethodtogetthebestresults.Asaresult,peopleareoftenwillingtolearnnewandadvancedteachingmethods,traditionalandeffectiveteachingmethods,takeeachofthebest.Inordertoimprovethequalityofteaching,solvetheproblemof"time-consumingandinefficient",Theenthusiasmofstudyteachingmethodsbyteachersandresearchstaffgrowing.Duringthisperiodrepresentativeoftheresearchistask-basedteachingandeffectivemeansofteachingmethods.CurriculumstandardsproposethewayofTask-basedteaching.TheexperimentalEnglishclass’smaterialsarealsoimplementingthetask-basedteachingideas.Task-basedactivitiesallowstudentstoworkinEnglish,useLanguagetocarryoutreal,meaningfulactivities,toprovidestudentswiththeopportunitytointeractandexploretheirownopportunities.Ifusedproperly,task-basedteachingisindeedabletodeveloptheabilityofstudentstouseEnglisheffectively.

Sincereformandopeningup,aneducationaltechnologyrevolutionhastakenplace.Agradualchangefromsimplepiecesofchalkandtheblackboardmodeltothemultimediaapplications.Sincethe1990s,multimediatechnologymadeajumpdevelopment.Thefirstistoimprovethemulti-mediacomputerhardwarefacilities,Integrationtheaudiocards,videocards,networkcardsoranimatedcardswiththecomputerandaccessories.Sothatithasmoremultimediafeatures.Second,allocationtheteachingcomputersoftware,sothatthelanguagelaboratorywithamulti-dimensionalaudio-visualfunctions,improvetheefficiencyofforeignlanguageteaching.ThethirdistobuildCAI(Computer-AssistedInstruction)localareanetwork,tobuildamulti-lingualteachingsystem.Fourth,developthemultimediaCD-ROM-basedsmarttextbookstoexploreanenvironmentfortheprimaryandsecondaryschoolforeignlanguageself-studyandresearch.TeachingtechnologymeansrenewalmakesteachingProgrammed,three-dimensional,high-performance,theclassroommoreopenandlearningmorepersonalized.

Duringthepast30years,ourcountryEnglishteachingachievementhasbeenauniversallyrecognized.Havingformedselfteachingsystemstepbystep.ChinahastrainedalargenumberofprofessionalteacherswithacertainlevelofEnglishforChina'smodernizationandsocialdevelopment.Withthedeepeningopeningtotheoutsideworld,inparticular,sinceChinaformallyjoinedtheWT0,thereisanurgentdemandforEnglishpeople,especiallythosewhohaveastrongEnglishcommunicationskills,thevoiceoffurtherimproveforeignlanguageteachingqualityisrising,deepeningreformoftheforeignlanguageteachingwithoutdelay.

2.Foreignlanguageteachingsituationandthemainproblems

Atpresent,China'sprimaryschool,juniorschoolandseniorschoolstudentsarerespectively130million,57millionand10million.TheestablishedforeignlanguageisEnglish,RussianandJapanese.RussianandJapanesearemainlytaughtinthethreeNortheasternprovincesandInnerMongolia.Therewere350,000studentsand120,000studentstolearnRussianandJapanese,alltherestofthesecondaryschoolstudentstolearnEnglish.Englishprimaryschoolswererapidlyontherise,since1994,increasingmorethan1,000,000studentseveryyear.Accordingtoincompletestatistics,by1999,therewereabout7,000,000primaryschoolstudentslearningEnglishinschool(anaverageof3hoursperweek).Inadditiontothenearly80,000ordinarysecondaryschoolstosetupforeignlanguageclasses(4to5hoursperweek),thereareabout50bytheNationalForeignLanguageSchoolsetupforeignlanguageclasses(6to8hoursperweek).Bothbesides,atpresentthroughoutthecountryalloccupationhighschool,technicalschoolandseveralthousandstechnicalschoolareestablishingforeignlanguageclass.Itcanbeseenthatthenumberofourcountrymiddleandprimaryschoolstudentsapproach100millions,canreallybetermedas"AGreatforeignlanguageeducatesCountry".

Forthepast30years,ourcollegeforeignlanguageteachingachievementsareoutstanding.However,basedonthestrategicrequirements,intheneweraofpersonneltrainingview,China'sforeignlanguageteachingtherearestilldeficiencies.

First,teachingthinkingislaggingbehind.Foralongtime,thepurposeofChineseforeignlanguageteachingis"studentshavestrongreadingskillsandacertaincapabilityoflistening,speaking,writingandtranslation.”Here,readingabilityhasbeenplacedinaprominentposition,whilelistening,speaking,writing,translationandotherabilitiesarenotattentionenough,witchcausecommunicationskillsofstudentsarepoor,inturn,affectedthereadingimprovement,whichrestrictedtheabilitytoimproveEnglishintegrated.So,onthepointofview,th
