学习目标:
总体目标:
通过对英语基础知识的学习和训练,培养听、说、读、写、译五大语言基本技能,使语言学习、语言实践、语言应用以及文化体验有机结合,同时也借此教学情景让大学生们了解并正确对待自己将面临的就业挑战。
本情景具体学习目标如下:
1、听说能力目标:
通过介绍旅游的若干信息及其表达的常用语,使学生具备旅游方面的日常听说能力。
2、阅读能力目标:
通过教材阅读,在扩大学生词汇量的同时,使学生掌握如何通过主题句理解中心思想,如何通过构词法和上下文猜生词,从而加强学生阅读能力。
3、写作能力目标:
通过对私人信函写作格式的讲解,使学生了解私人信函所包括的相关内容,从而具备正确书写私人信函的能力。
4、翻译能力目标:
英译汉:
使学生掌握长句/复合句的翻译。
汉译英:
了解和掌握“根据”、“恳求”等词组的翻译,提高翻译能力。

1Today'suniversitygraduatesusuallyhavegreatpressureinfindingfairlygoodjobs.Theyfeelachillintheemploymentmarket.
2TherecentyearshavewitnessedthegreatleapinthenumberofcollegegraduatessinceChineseinstitutionsofhigherlearningbeganexpandingenrollmentin1999,whichhasmadetheemploymentsituationverysevere.Collegeenrollmenthasexpandedatafasterratethanthejobmarket,limitinggraduates’employmentopportunities.Thenewlyemergingurbanlaborforce,thesurplusrurallaborersenteringurbanareasforwork,andlaid–offworkerswaitingforreemploymentcombinetopressuretheemploymentmarket,makingthesituationmoresevere.
3However,theexpansionincollegeenrollmentisnottheonlycauseofthetightjobmarket.Therearemultiplefactors.Someuniversitiesandcollegeshavebeenluredtoexpandenrollmentofsomepopularspecialtiessuchasaccountingandlawwithoutconsiderationofchangesinmarketdemand.Thishassaturatedmarketdemand,leavingthebeneficiariesoftheenrollmentexpansioninthesespecialtiestoconfrontjob-huntingdifficultiesandasenseofloss.
4Employersarenowshiftingtheirfocusfromacademicbackgroundtopracticalabilitiesofgraduates.However,collegeeducationinChinaputsmoreemphasisonacademicsthanonskills.Thisresultsinastrangephenomenon:
Employershavedifficultiesrecruitingqualifiedgraduates,whilemanygraduatesremainunemployed.
5Inaddition,manygraduatesdonotknowhowtopreparejobinterviews.Ananalysisofgraduates’resumeshasfoundthatmorethan80percentoftheresumesaredeficient,oftenmissingpointsthatareessentialforaresume.Thisindicatesthatgraduatingstudentsgenerallylackcareerawarenessandemploymentknow-how,whichcreatesobstaclesintheirjob-hunting.
6Theconcentrationofjoblocationsisanotherfactorcausingdifficulties.Collegegraduatestendtoconcentratetheirjobsearchesineconomicallydevelopedcities,suchasBeijing,Shanghai,GuangzhouandShenzhen,andsoutheasterncoastalareas,andfavorgovernmentinstitutions,foreign-fundedcompaniesandlargeenterprises.Fewofthemareinterestedineconomicallyunderdevelopedregions,smalltownsorruralareas,andmanyhaveadiscriminativeattitudetowardssmallandmedium-sizedenterprises.Apartfromthepayfactor,theybasetheirchoicesonthefactthatlargeenterprisescanprovidethemwithmorestablebenefitsandemploymentsecurity.
7Thesevereemploymentsituationfacingcollegegraduateshasdrawntheattentionofthegovernment.Specialmeasureshavebeenformulatedtoexpandtheemploymentchannelsforgraduates.Forinstance,citiesarecalledontorelaxresidenceregistrationrestrictionstoletincollegegraduates.Itissuggestedthatserviceinstitutionsbesetuptooffercareerguidancetograduatingstudents,andthatagraduationemploymentinformationsystembeestablishedtoofferrelevantinformationinatimelymanner.Themeasuresalsoincludepoliciestoencourageandsupportcollegegraduatestolookforworkingrass-rootsunitsandthewesternregions.Localgovernmentsanduniversitiesnationwideareactiveindoingtheirparttocreateafavorableenvironmentfortheemploymentofgraduates.
8Wecanpredictthattherewillbemorefavorablepolicyenvironmentforemployment.Moreover,thedevelopmentoftheChineseeconomywillhelpcreatemorejobopportunities.Therefore,graduatingstudents,thoughfacingaseveresituation,neednotworrytoomuch.However,theyshouldadjusttheirmentalityandemploymentconcepts.Oncetheydothis,itwillnotbetoodifficultforthemtofindajob.
