anothership,theLynher,andsailedtothenorthcoastofWesternAustralia.AfterlandingnearCollierBayhisgroupwalkedinland.Greyandhismenweretotallyinexperiencedandlackedsurvivalskills.ThelocalpeoplewerehostileandGreywasinjured.Ittooktwoweeksbeforehewaswellenoughtotravel.TheydiscoveredandnamedtheGlenelgRiver.StephenRangeandMountLyell.Thelandwasnotsuitableforsettlement,soinApriltheysailedtotheislandcoonMauritiustogetsomerest.

GreyreturnedtoAustralia,andinFebruary1839hesailedfromPerthtoSharkBay.WesternAustralia.Histeamlandedwiththreewhaleboatstogonorthwards.Wheylosttheirfoodwhenonewhaleboatwasdamagedinastrongstorm.TheyfinallyreachedSharkBay,TheysetsailbacktoPerthbutbothboatsweredamaged.Aftermakingittoshore(岸)withverylittlefoodandwater.Hismenwerebadlyweakenedandonedied.Greypushedonaheadarrivedlater.Henotedthefertile(富烧的)areassouthoftheMurchisonRiverandpeoplebegantosettletherein1850.
