Howskillstrainersareselected
TheDepartmentHeadinliaisonwiththetrainingdepartmentshouldselectindividuals.Onceselected,theyshouldhaveaninterviewwiththetrainingdepartment,tobefullybriefedontheirroleandtasks.
RoleandResponsibilitiesoftheSkillsTrainer
Skillstrainersassistwithtrainingofnewemployeesandretrainingofexistingemployees.Thepositionisconcernedwiththedevelopmentandmaintenanceofjobskillsnecessaryformeetingperformancestandards.
Thedepartmentaltrainercoordinatestheskillstrainersandmakessuretheyarecarryingoutskillstrainingasrequired.

Itisnotthepurposeofthissectiontofocusontheorganisationofalldepartmenttraining,notmerelyskillstraining.Departmenttrainingmeetingsareincludedtoshowhowtheskillstrainersfitintotheoverallpicture.
Trainer'smeetings
Thetrainingmanagershouldholdmonthlymeetingswithalldepartmenttrainers,whointurnshouldcascadetheagendawithamonthlymeetingfortheirownskillstrainers.Ifsuchregularmeetingsarenotrealistic,adaptthem,involvingskillstrainers,asyouprefer.
Theobjectivesofthesemeetingsareto:
Monitortheleveloftrainingactivity,includingskillsandoffthejobtraining.,Toguidethedepartmenttrainersinsuchareasasidentifyingrealtrainingneedsandcompiling
departmentaltrainingplans.

EachdepartmentshouldhaveaS.O.P.manualinwhichalltasksarebrokendownandstandardsareclearlystated,possiblywiththehelpofphotosordiagrams.Itshouldbeupdatedregularly.Themanualshouldbereferredtoatalltimeswhentrainingstaff,andtheyshouldbeencouragedtouseitforthemselves.
