Farmershopedthatthe1846harvestwouldbebetter,butitwasworse.That

winter,theweatherwasterribleandincludedseveresnowstorms,highwinds,andbitterlycoldtemperatures.Bythenextyear,sharvest,thepotatoeshadbeguntorecover.TheIrishwerehopefulthatthePotatoFaminehadcometoanend.However,theharvestwasfartoosmalltosustainthestarvingpopulation.
