BradclosedthedoorslowlyasSuelefthometovisithermother.Expectingawholedaytorelax,hewasthinkingwhethertoreadthenewspaperorwatchhisfavouriteTVtalkshowonhisfirstdayoffinmonths.“Thiswillbelikeawalkinthepark,”he'dtoldhiswife.“I'lllookafterthekids,andyoucangovisityourmom.”

Thingsstartedwell,butjustaftereighto'clock,histhreelittle“goodkids”—Mike,Randy,andAlex—camedownthestairsintheirnightclothesandshouted“breakfast,daddy.”Whenfoodhadnotappearedwithinthirtyseconds,RandybeganusinghisspoononAlex'sheadasifitwereadrum.Alexstartedtoshoutloudlyintimetothebeat(节拍).Mikechanted“Where'smytoast,where'smytoast”inthebackground.Bradrealizedhisnewspaperwouldhavetowaitforafewseconds.
