DavidJonesisduetoflytoJohannesburginSouthAfricalatertoseetheroomhewillbesharingwith40snakes.Hisroommateswillincludeseveralkindsofdeadly(致命的)snakes.Mr.JonesstartshisrecordattemptonApril24th.Heaimstobeatthepresentrecordof113dayssetbyMartinSmit,aSouthAfrican.ThebigdifferencebetweenSmitandJonesisthatSmitisanexperiencedsnakehandler(训练者).Thelastpersontogofortherecordwasbittenbyadangeroussnakeandnearlylosthisleg.Mr.Jones

wantstoraisemoneyforcharity.Allthemoneyraisedwillgotoahospice(收容所)inhishometownofCrawley,nearLondon.

Mr.Jonestoldreportershewasnottooscaredofspendingsolonginaroomwithdangeroussnakes.Hedidadmithewasconcernedforanumberofreasons.Heisworriedthatthereisaveryrealpossibilityofendingupinhospital.Heisfullyawareofthedangers,saying,“Thesearewildanimals.They’reunexpectedandofcoursetheydobite,andtheybitewithseriousresults.”Jonesexpressedhisconcernsaboutspendingsuchalongtimeawayfromhisfamily,“I’malsoleavingmywife,mysonandmyfamilyforfourandahalfmonths.”

Mr.Jonesexplainedthereasonbehindhischallenge,“IhavealwaysbeeninterestedinsnakesandIthinknowitistimeformetodosomethingslightlyoutoftheordinaryinmylife.”
