activityprogrammedidnotreflectthefactthatwewerelocatedinoneofEurope’smostinterestingandhistoricalcities:
oneeveningactivityconsistedofawalktoanearbypark,anotherwasatriptoanarrowstreetwhichwasnotusuallyusedbycars.Finally,onouronetripintothecitycenterour“guide”readilyadmittedthatshewasnotfromEdinburgh,andhadinfactnevervisitedthecitybefore.IhadbeeneagerlyexpectingaguidedtourofScotland’streasures.Infact,Iwasleftinthecitycenterwithnomapandtoldto“checkthingsout”whileyouremployeewentshoppinginPrincesStreet.
Thiswasalongawaitedtripandcostmeovertwoyears’hardworkandsaving.AlthoughIdohavepositivememoriesofmytrip(myEnglishteacherswereknowledgeableandinspiring),theaccommodationandactivityprogrammewerewhollyunsatisfactory.
