WhydoestheexporterhavetoamendtheL/C:
ItisessentialfortheexportertodosobecauseaminordifferencebetweentheclausesoftheL/Candthetermsstipulatedinthesalescontractorsalesconfirmation,ifnotdiscoveredordulyamended,maycausethesellermuchinconveniencebecausethenegotiatingbankwillrefusetomakethepayment.
ThefollowingstructureisforyourreferenceinwritingaletteraskingforL/Camendmentorextension:
1.AcknowledgereceiptoftheL/Candthankthe
buyerforopeningit.
2.Pointouttheproblempolitelyandaskthebuyertomaketheamendmentaccordingly.Usually,detailedandcourteousexplanationsforsucharequestshouldbeprovided.
3.Endtheletterinawaythatencouragesthe
buyertotakeimmediateaction.
