TheCAREprocessforExcelLinkapplicationsissimilartothatfortheExcel500/800controller.TherearespecialconsiderationsaswellasadditionalsoftwarerequirementsforExcelLinkapplications.

TheExcelOLinkcontrolleranditssuccessortheExcelOPS（OpenPointServer）controllercanbeengineeredinCAREinthesamewayasastandardExcel500/800controller.ExternalbussysteminformationsuchasfromM-buswillbeintegratedbysimplepointmappingbetweensubsystempointsandCAREdatapoints.

ModifyUsetheModifyfunctiontoinstalladditionalcomponentsortoremovealreadyinstalledcomponents.

RepairUsetheRepairfunctionforrestoringfileswhichhavebeendeletedaccidentally.TheRepairfunctionmaycorruptCAREdatabasefileswhenrestoringdeleteddatabasefiles.

RemoveUsetheRemovefunctiontocompletelyremovethecurrentCAREversionfromyourPC.Notethatallprojectsandthedatabasewillbedeleted.Dotherespectivebackupsbeforeusingthismaintenanceoption.

AnHVACcontrolsystemistypicallycomposedofcontroller（s）andplant（s）.AcontrollercanbeanyEXCEL5000controller.PlantsarespecifiedbytheirtypesuchasAirconditioning,ChilledwaterandHotwater.

PhysicalControlSystem

Aplantisacontrolledmechanicalsystem.Forexample,aplantcanbeanairhandler,boiler,chiller,orMicroCelVariableAirVolume（VAV）systemwhichiscomposedforexample,ofboilers,heaters,pumps,sensors,andotherdevices.Dependingonthetechnicalfunction,eachdevicehasitsinputs,respectivelyitsoutputs.

Thecontrollerandthedeviceareconnectedviatheirinputs/outputs.Dependingontheusedbussystem,thedevicesareconnectedphysically（C-Bus）orlogically（LON-Bus,orBACnet-bus）tothecontroller.Theplantiscontrolledbytheapplicationprogram（controlstrategy,switchinglogic,timeprogram）runninginthecontroller.Forexample,ifthesensorgivesachangedtemperaturevalue,theactuatordrivesthevalvetotheappropriatepositiontocompensatethetemperaturedeviation.

ThecontrollerisprovidedbyCAREwithitscontrollerspecificfeaturessuchascontrollermemoryanddatapointcapacity.

Thephysicalplantisrepresentedbyaschematic（notapplicabletoExcelWebcontrollerandELinkcontroller）,thatshowstheequipmentintheplantandhowitisarranged.

Datapoints

Atthebottomoftheschematic（CAREXL-5000only）,arrowheadsrepresenttheinputs/outputsoftheequipmentasdatapoints.Theyarecolor-coded,directional（downisinput;upisoutput）,andmarkedwithspecialsymbolsforadditionalinformation:

CAREdistinguishesbetweenphysicalorhardwarepointswhicharerelatedtophysicalinputsoroutputsandsoftwareorpseudopoints.Softwarepointscanbecreatedforprocessingcalculationresultsofsoftwareprograms.

Datapointsarespecifiedbycertainproperties,suchaspointtype（analoginput,digitaloutputetc.）,useraddress（OaTemp=outsideairtemperature）etc.DatapointscanbeidentifiedwithintheEXCEL5000systembytheiruniqueuseraddress.

Tocontroltheequipment,acontrolstrategy,aswitchinglogicand/oratimeprogramisaddedtotheplantschematic（seealsoCAREMainApplicationssection）.Forthecontrolprocessthroughtheapplicationprograminthecontroller,thedatapointsrepresentlinkstoprovidedataexchangebetweenthecontrollerandtheplant.Dataexchangethroughdatapointswillbeperformedaccordingtotheattachedlogicfunctions.

Allrelevantinformationofcontrollersandtheirattachedplantsaresavedinaproject.

Thecontrollerandplantdevicesareattachedtocertaincommunicationsmedia（bus）andcommunicatewithoneanotherusingacommoncommunicationprotocol.CAREsupportstheproprietaryHoneywellC-bus（localLON-bus）,theopenLON-bus（LonWorks）,BACnet-busand3rdpartybussystemssuchasMeterbus.
