Thisstudylasted15years.Duringthattime,morethan3,400oftheindividualsdied.About1.200ofthedeathswerelinkedtoheartdisease,hear,attackorstroke.
OneoftheresearchersisamannamedD.C.Lee,aprofessorofIowaStateUniversityComparedtonon-runners,hesaid,runnersshowedamuchlowerriskofdyingfromsomediseases.“Comparedtonon-runners,runnersshowed30percentlowerriskofdeathbyanycauses,includingheartattack,strokeandcancer.Also,runnerscomparedtonon-runnersshowed45percentlowerriskofdeathbycardiovasculardiseases（心血管疾病）,includingheartattackandstroke.”
D.C.Leeandtheotherresearchersfoundthatspeed,distanceandhowoftenonerunsmadelittledifferenceinreducingtheriskofdeath.Therunnersinthestudyaveragedbetween10and16kilometersperhour.Mr.Leesaidslowerrunnersandthosewhoonlyranonceortwiceaweekwerehelpednearlyasmuchasthosewhoranfasterandfurther.“Andalsowelookedattheinningovertimeandwefoundthatpersistentrunners（oversixyears）showedthebiggestbenefits,aswell.”
