Thelyricmainlyconcentratesonhumanthoughtsandemotionsratherthanastory.Lyricsalwaysbearsong-likeappeal.Thesearemainlyshortpoems.Popularlyricpoemformsaretheelegy(挽歌),theode(颂歌)andthesonnet(十四行诗).WilliamShakespeare,EdmundWallerandKeatsaresomeofthegreatestlyricwritersofalltimes.
Narrativepoems:
Thistypeofpoetrytellsastory.Narrativepoemsareusuallylongpoems.Epics(史诗)andballadsfallunderthistype.SomeofthegreatestepicpoetsareJohnMilton,Dante,EdgarAllanPoe,AlexanderPope,WilliamShakespeare,etc.
Dramaticpoems:
Anydramathatiswritteninverseisadramaticpoem.Thesepoemsgenerallytellastory.Blackverse,dramaticmonologuesandclosetdramabelongtothistype.WilliamShakespeare,ChristopherMarloweandBenJonsonaresomeofthegreatdramaticpoets.
