3MANUFACTURINGPROCESSANDMANUFACTURINGPROCEDUREQUALIFICATIONS

3.1SlabandSlabTreatment

Allslabsshallbeproducedbythecontinuouscastingprocess.Thermalcuttingofcoldslabsshallnotbepermitted.Allsurfacesoftheslabshallbeinspectedfordefectsandtheendsoftheslabshallbecutasnecessarytoremoveinjuriousdefects.TheextentofslabscarfingshallbeagreedbetweenCOMPANYandCONTRACTOR.

3.2SkelpManufacture

CONTRACTORshallsubmitaspartoftheManufacturingProcedureSpecificationtoCOMPANYforreviewandapprovaladescriptionoftheproposedrollingpracticeinstrumentationtoensurepropercontrolofrollingtemperature,rollingreduction,postrollingcoolingrateandothermeasuresutilizedtoensureconsistencyofmechanicalpropertiesoftheproduct.SkelpthicknessshallbecontrolledbycontinuousgammaorX-raydevices.MethodsusedtoassureuniformityofskelphardnessshallbeincludedintheManufacturingProcedureSpecificationapprovedbyCOMPANY.

3.3LinePipeManufacturing

Thelinepipeshallcontainonestraightseamweldedutilizinghighfrequencyelectricresistanceorinductionmethods.TheweldingprocedureshallbesubmittedforapprovalbyCOMPANYaspartoftheManufacturingProcedureSpecification.

Theareaofpipelengthwhichincludedthefullthicknessoftheweldseamandtheheataffectedzoneshallbegivenheattreatment(s)afterwelding.Fulldetailsofheattreatmenttemperaturesandtimes,heatedbandwidths(internalandexternal),coolingrateandtrackingshallbesubmittedtoCOMPANYforapprovalaspartoftheManufacturingProcedureSpecification.

CONTRACTORshalldemonstratethattheheattreatmentwillensureconsistentproductionofafullyrefinedmicrostructureintheweldarea.CONTRACTORshallsubmitdetailsofanyotherheattreatmentofthelinepipeforapprovalaspartoftheManufacturingProcedureSpecification.

CONTRACTORshalldemonstratethatlinepipeoftheproposedgrade,composition,heattreatmentconditionandmanufacturingrouteisnotsusceptibletoweldgroovingcorrosion.

CONTRACTORshallinstallapaintmarkingsystemlocatedatandtiedbacktoapyrometerwhichshallmeasuredtheERWweldtemperatureasthepipeleavestheheattreatmentcoils.Pipewhichisheat-treatedoutsideaimtemperaturerangesspecifiedintheManufacturingProcedureSpecification,shallbepaintsprayedalongitslengthuntilthecorrecttemperatureisrestored.Pipethathasbeenincorrectlyheat-treatedshallbescrapped.

3.4ManufacturingProcedureSpecification

CONTRACTORshallsubmitadetailManufacturingProcedureSpecificationtoCOMPANYforapprovalpriortomanufacturethatshallincludeadetailedprocedureformanufactureoflinepipe.

TheManufacturingProcedureSpecificationshallincludethefollowingitems:

•Nameofsteelmill•Steelmakingmethod•Deoxidizationpractice•Chemicalcompositionrange•Specialadditions•Ladletreatments•Vacuumde-gassing•Slabtreatments•Frequencyofcenterlinesegregationmonitoring•HardnessSurveyProcedures•Nameofskelprollingmill•Rollingdetails(includingfinishrolling)•Rollingequipmentused•Rollingdirectionandcrossrollingratio•HeatTreatment(includingtemperature,holdtimes,heatingandcoolingrate,coolingmediumandfurnacedetails)•Rollingtemperature(forallstageofrolling),coolingratesandpercentagereductionbelow950C•SkelpInspection/Tests•Skelpcoiling,geometrycontrolandfeedspeeddetails•DetailedWeldingProcedures/Parameters•Shroud/shieldinggasdetails•Arrangementforremovingweldflash

3.5ManufacturingProcedureQualifications

Onepipefromthefirstdaysproductionshallbesubjectedtoalltestingrequiredthisspecification.FailureofanyoftheManufacturingProcedureQualificationTestingshallbecauseforrejectionofthemanufacturingprocedurespecification.COMPANYreservestherighttorequirerequalificationoftheManufacturingProcedureQualificationifthereareanychangestotheessentialvariablesofmanufacturing.CONTRACTORshallsubmitalistofessentialvariablestoCOMPANYforapproval.COMPANYreservestherighttorequireadditionalManufacturingProcedureQualificationTesting.

3.6FieldWeldability

ThepipematerialshallbesuitableforfieldweldingusingtheSMAW,GTAWandSAWprocesses.TheCONTRACTORshallsubmitdatafrompreviousprojectswhichdemonstratethatpipeofsimilarcompositionandmanufacturingmethodmaybeweldedbycommonsiteandlaybargetechniques.Intheabsenceofrelevanttestdata,COMPANYwillrequireweldabilitytestinginaccordancewithspecificationSPC-S/M-SP-004“WeldingofMultiphasePipelines”.

4.2HeatAnalysis

CONTRACTORshallfurnishtheladleanalysisforeachheatofsteel.TheheatanalysisshallmeetthelimitsforchemistryagreedintheManufacturingProcedureSpecification.

4.3ProductAnalysis

CONTRACTORshallconductaproductanalysisonthefirstpipelengthfromeachheat,orfromeachbatchof100pipelengthsiftheremorethan100bereportedbyCONTRACTOR,fromacrosssectionratherthanfromasurfaceanalysisofthelinepipe.Ifthevalueofanyelementfallsoutsidethelimitslisted,thepipelengthsmadefromthatheatshallberejected.AtthediscretionofCOMPANY,CONTRACTORmaybepermittedtocheckeachpipelengthfromtherejectedheatforcompliancewiththisSpecification.CONTRACTORshallincludetheproductanalysismethodintheManufacturingProcedureSpecificationsubmittedtoCOMPANYforreviewand/orapproval.

5MECHANICALPROPERTIES

5.1General

CONTRACTORshallperformthemechanicaltestatafrequencyofonesampleper100pipelengthoronesampleperheatofaheatcontainslessthan100pipelength.

TestspecimenswillbetakenbyCONTRACTOR,frompipelengthsthathavebeensuccessfullyhydrostaticallytested.COMPANYwillhavetherighttoselectpipelengthsformechanicaltests.

Thefollowingtablegivesthenumberandtypeofmechanicaltestspecimensrequired.
