1.IntroductionandGeneralInformation介绍和一般信息
Thismethodstatementprovidesthedetailsofthematerials,theequipment,theprocedureandrelevantdocumentsrelatedtotheexcavationandembankmentactivities,includingthequalitycontrolandthesafetyprecautions.
1.1.LocationofWorks作品的位置
ThelocationoftheexcavationandembankmentworkswillbelimitedtoselectedareaswithintheRightofWay（ROW）,asinstructedbytheEngineer.Alternatively,asrequired,theseworksmaybeapplicabletolocationsoutsidetheROW（ie.borrowpits,disposalareasetc.）

4.MethodandProcedures方法和程序
Themethodandproceduresfortheexcavationandembankmentworksfollowthestepsbelow.TheFlowchartisalsoprovidedinAppendixA
Beforethecommencementoftheworkandafterthecompletionoftherelatedclearing&grubbingoperation,theEngineerwillbenotifiedoftheareastobeexcavated.Accordingly,theEngineerwillinspecttheareaforapprovalbeforecommencementoftheworks.
Soilclassificationwillbecarriedoutonsamplestakenalongtheroadconstructionarea.Theintervalofsamplingwillbedeterminedbythechangingnatureofthesoilencountered.Teststoclassifythesoiltypesencounteredwillinclude,oneormoreofthefollowing,asrequired（ie.CBR（DCP）,PI,Gradation,OMC/MDDetc.）
4.1.ExcavationofTopsoilMaterials挖掘表层土材料
4.1.1AftergettingtheEngineer’sapproval,thetopsoil（toplayerin-situmaterialcontainingvegetation,rootsandseeds）willbestrippedoffbymeansofearthmovingequipmentinthedayshift.
DuringtheEngineer’sinspectionofthegeneralareaofwork,theEngineerwillconfirmthethicknessoftopsoiltoremoveandrecordhisinstructioninwritingatthefield.
4.1.2Thetopsoilmaterialsexcavatedwillbestockpiledwithinand/oroutsidethesiteinareasapprovedbytheEngineer.
4.1.3Afterthecompletionofstrippingandstockpilingoftopsoilwithinaparticulararea,arequestwillbemadetotheEngineertocarryoutaninspectiontoconsistofavisualinspectionfollowedbyajointsurvey.Iffollowingtheinitialvisualinspection,theEngineerdeterminesthatcertainareasrequirefurtherstripping,hewillissuehisfurtherinstructionsinwritingatthispointandCSCECwillcarryouttheadditionalworkaccordingly.Oncetheinitialvisualinspectionissatisfied,thesecondpartoftheinspectionwillbecompletedwithajointsurveyoftheareabeforecommencementofworkstofollow.
4.2.ExcavationofUnclassifiedMaterials公开的材料开挖
4.2.1EarthmaterialwhichwillbeclassifiedasunclassifiedsoilandconformingtospecificationrequirementswillbeexcavatedusingExcavators.
4.2.2Theexcavatedunclassifiedmaterialwillbetransporteddirectlytoareasforuseinformingembankmentsfortheroadways,connectingroads,rampsandapproaches;inconstructingsubgradeandshoulders;inbackfillingaroundstructuresorforanyotherpurposenecessaryforthecompletionoftheprojectinaccordancewiththedrawings.
4.2.3Inareaswherethesituationarises,excessmaterialwillbestockpiledtemporarilywithintheROWoralternativelyinselectedareasadjacenttothesite,approvedbytheEngineer.
4.2.4Excavationwillbeundertakendowntotheapprovedlinesandlevels.
4.2.5Ifthesubgradelevelisreachedwithintheunclassifiedmaterialstrata,thebottomlayerwillbecompactedtothedensityspecified.IfmaterialatthebottomisfoundtobesoftandweareunabletocompacttotherequireddensityandCBRvalues,thenwewillrequiretheinstructionoftheEngineertofurtherexcavatetoaspecifieddepthandreplacewithSelectedMaterial,orasotherwiseinstructed.Detailofsuchadditionalworkswillberecordedjointly.
Ifhardrockisreachedandexcavationneedstocontinueinthenewstrata,unclassifiedexcavationwillbehaltedinthoseareas.
4.2.6ArequestwillbemadetotheEngineertocarryoutajointsurveyoftheareawhereexcavationiscompleted,forthepurposeofmeasurements.
4.2.7Excavationworkincuttingareaswillbedoneseparatedinlayersandwidthtoensurethevehiclestraveling.Fortheshallowexcavationportion,bulldozersandloaderswillbeused,forthedeepexcavationportion,excavatorwillbeused..Soilexcavationandsoftrockcuttingexcavation,thereservedsoilatthebottomorslopeshouldbeatleast20cmforthesecondaryexcavation.Meanwhile,thecatchwatermustbebuildbeforeexcavation.
4.2.8Accordingtothedesignrequirements,theslopeofsoilcuttingareais1:
2andtheslopeofrockcuttingareais1:
0.5,whentheexcavationdepthismorethan7m,twolevelsofslopewillbeused.
4.3.HardRockExcavation硬岩开挖

4.4.ExcavationofUnsuitableMaterials不合格材料的挖掘
4.4.1EarthmaterialwhichwillbeidentifiedbytheEngineerasunsuitableforembankmentwillbeexcavatedusingexcavators/dozers.
4.4.2SuchmaterialswillbetransporteddirectlytodisposalareasapprovedbytheEngineer,withoutdoublehandling.
Beforethedisposalofwastematerialsorselectedvegetation,arequestwillbemadetotheEngineerforapprovalofalocationfordisposalwhensuchalocationisintheROW.Alternatively,ifanareaoutsidethesiteisconsidered,thenecessarystepswillbetakentoobtainapprovalfromlandownersandoftheCEA.
Disposalofallwasteincludingwood,trash,debris,stumps,andotherforeignmatterwillberemovedtotheapprovedlocationswiththehelpofdumptrucks,JCB,tractorandmanpowerorother.
Eachlocationforthenecessaryapprovalsisshowedasfollow.

4.4.3Thevolumeofexcavatedmaterialtobespoiledissubstantialinvolumeandproperdisposalareashavetobedeterminedoutsidethesite.
