Introduction and General Information 介绍和一般信息This method statement provides the details of the materials, the equipment, the procedure and relevant documents related to the excavation and embankment activities, including the quality control and the safety pr

10、ecautions.1.1. Location of Works作品的位置The location of the excavation and embankment works will be limited to selected areas within the Right of Way (ROW), as instructed by the Engineer. Alternatively, as required, these works may be applicable to locations outside the ROW (ie. borrow pits, disposal a

11、reas etc.)2. Materials材料The major materials used for the excavation and embankment works include, but are not limited to the following. Suitable soil Granular material Weathered rock Hard rock Unclassified or borrow material Water 3. Equipment 设备The major equipment used for the excavation and embank

Method and Procedures 方法和程序The method and procedures for the excavation a

13、nd embankment works follow the steps below.The Flowchart is also provided in Appendix ABefore the commencement of the work and after the completion of the related clearing & grubbing operation, the Engineer will be notified of the areas to be excavated. Accordingly, the Engineer will inspect the are

14、a for approval before commencement of the works.Soil classification will be carried out on samples taken along the road construction area. The interval of sampling will be determined by the changing nature of the soil encountered. Tests to classify the soil types encountered will include, one or mor

15、e of the following, as required (ie. CBR(DCP), PI, Gradation, OMC/MDD etc.) 4.1. Excavation of Topsoil Materials 挖掘表层土材料4.1.1 After getting the Engineers approval, the topsoil (top layer in-situ material containing vegetation, roots and seeds) will be stripped off by means of earthmoving equipment i

16、n the day shift.During the Engineers inspection of the general area of work, the Engineer will confirm the thickness of topsoil to remove and record his instruction in writing at the field.4.1.2 The topsoil materials excavated will be stockpiled within and/or outside the site in areas approved by th

17、e Engineer.4.1.3 After the completion of stripping and stockpiling of topsoil within a particular area, a request will be made to the Engineer to carryout an inspection to consist of a visual inspection followed by a joint survey. If following the initial visual inspection, the Engineer determines t

18、hat certain areas require further stripping, he will issue his further instructions in writing at this point and CSCEC will carryout the additional work accordingly. Once the initial visual inspection is satisfied, the second part of the inspection will be completed with a joint survey of the area b

19、efore commencement of works to follow.4.2. Excavation of Unclassified Materials 公开的材料开挖4.2.1 Earth material which will be classified as unclassified soil and conforming to specification requirements will be excavated using Excavators.4.2.2 The excavated unclassified material will be transported dire

20、ctly to areas for use in forming embankments for the roadways, connecting roads, ramps and approaches; in constructing subgrade and shoulders; in backfilling around structures or for any other purpose necessary for the completion of the project in accordance with the drawings.4.2.3 In areas where th

21、e situation arises, excess material will be stockpiled temporarily within the ROW or alternatively in selected areas adjacent to the site, approved by the Engineer.4.2.4 Excavation will be undertaken down to the approved lines and levels.4.2.5 If the subgrade level is reached within the unclassified

22、 material strata, the bottom layer will be compacted to the density specified. If material at the bottom is found to be soft and we are unable to compact to the required density and CBR values, then we will require the instruction of the Engineer to further excavate to a specified depth and replace

23、with Selected Material, or as otherwise instructed. Detail of such additional works will be recorded jointly.If hard rock is reached and excavation needs to continue in the new strata, unclassified excavation will be halted in those areas.4.2.6 A request will be made to the Engineer to carry out a j

24、oint survey of the area where excavation is completed, for the purpose of measurements.4.2.7 Excavation work in cutting areas will be done separated in layers and width to ensure the vehicles traveling. For the shallow excavation portion, bulldozers and loaders will be used, for the deep excavation

25、portion, excavator will be used.Soil excavation and soft rock cutting excavation, the reserved soil at the bottom or slope should be at least 20cm for the secondary excavation. Meanwhile, the catchwater must be build before excavation.4.2.8 According to the design requirements, the slope of soil cut

26、ting area is 1:2 and the slope of rock cutting area is 1:0.5, when the excavation depth is more than 7 m, two levels of slope will be used.4.3. Hard Rock Excavation 硬岩开挖This chapter will be described in method statement for rock blasting.4.4. Excavation of Unsuitable Materials 不合格材料的挖掘4.4.1 Earth ma

27、terial which will be identified by the Engineer as unsuitable for embankment will be excavated using excavators / dozers.4.4.2 Such materials will be transported directly to disposal areas approved by the Engineer, without double handling.Before the disposal of waste materials or selected vegetation

28、, a request will be made to the Engineer for approval of a location for disposal when such a location is in the ROW. Alternatively, if an area outside the site is considered, the necessary steps will be taken to obtain approval from land owners and of the CEA.Disposal of all waste including wood, tr
