Theyarethelatestinatotalof13provincesandmunicipalities(市)toformulateplanstoensurethatruralchildrenwhohavefollowedtheirparentstocitiescanenjoythesamerightsastheirurbanpeersineducation.

Beijingwillallowmigrantworkers'childrentoattendlocalvocationalschoolsin2013andallowthemtobematriculatedbyuniversitiesaftergraduatingfromthevocationalprogramsin2014,saidastatementfromthecity'scommissionofeducation.

Shanghaitookastepfurther,sayingitwillallowmigrantchildreninthecitytoenterlocalseniorhighschools,vocationalschoolsandsitcollegeentranceexams(commonlyknownasgaokao)locallystartingin2014.

Guangdonghasaskeditscitiestostartrecruiting(招收)migrantworkers'childreninlocalseniorhighschoolsin2013.Theprovincewillallowthesechildrentositgaokaoandcompetewithlocalresidentsonanequalfeetingincollegeentrancestartingin2016,Luosaidtherestrictionswouldberelaxedgraduallyand“stepbystep”astheprovincemustsolvetheconflictbetweenitsgiganticmigrantpopulationandascarcityofeducationresources.
