Itisessentialthatthestudentsconsiderthelearningactivityasmeaningful.Itwillensurestudentsfullinvolvement.Thestudentshaveasetmind.Iftheyfeelthattheactivityissuitableandworthyoftheirtimeandeffort,thentheywillbeattentive.But,ifthestudentsthink,theactivityisnotsatisfactoryandisboring,thentheywilldisengage.

Tomaketheactivitiesmoremeaningfulandfun,youcanengagethestudentspersonallyinit.Theycansharetheirexperiencesorquoteexamples.Whenthestudentsinteractmore,thatactivitybecomesmeaningfulitself.Trytoincludenewlearningmethodswhicharedifferentandfun.Itautomaticallygrowsstudentslearning.

ii.Bringinthesenseofcompetence

Thewaytoincreaseexcitementinstudentslearningistobringthatpositivecompetitivespirit.Eachstudentintheclassshouldfeelthattheactivitywillbringsomerewardforhim/her.Thestudentsshouldcompeteinapositivemanner.Itiscalledeffectiveparticipationwhichwillsurelyengagethemintheactivity.

iii.ProvideIndividualSupport

Aclassteacherneedstounderstandthemindsofthestudents.Beingateacher,youneedtonurtureyourstudentsregardingtheircontrolovertheirbehaviorandgoals.Youneedtoletthestudentsopenupandgivethemsomefreedomtospeakinclass.

Welcomeeachstudents’ideasandopinionsforaparticularactivity.Tobuildstudentsinterest,itisveryimportantthatweuseanon-controllinglanguagewiththem.Theyshouldfeelrelaxedandnotpressurized.Youshouldalsogivethestudentssometimetounderstandtheactivityandabsorbitinbythemselves.

Collaborativelearningisapowerfulmethodtodevelopstudentslearning.Collaborationhelpsthestudentstobuildasenseofunity.Whenstudentsworktogether,theirengagementtowardstheactivityincreases.Itisduetoasenseofconnectionwhichthestudentsdevelopwhentheyworktogether.

Theteacher-studentrelationshipiscrucialwhenitcomesdowntostudentslearning.Youneedtotakecarethat,theactivityispromotingahealthyrelationshipbetweenyouandthestudents.
