Abstract:
Withtheadvancementofforeignlanguageandthesuperiorityofcommunication,Englishmajorshavelesspressurewhentheystarttofindjobsinthelabormarket.Nevertheless,anincreasingnumberofgraduatesofEnglishmajorfindthatwiththegrowingEnglishproficiencyofnon-Englishmajors,theyhavelessandlessadvantageandbecomemoreandmoreconfusedwhendeterminetheirvocationalorientation.OnlyasmallnumberofgraduatesmajoringinEnglishwouldliketoworkinEnglishfield,suchastranslation,interpretationandsoon.Therefore,itiseasytoseethatacompanyincreasestherequirementsofadmittanceandreducesitspaymentitshouldpayfortheemployees.ThemainspecialcurriculuminHebeiCollegeofFinanceiscoursesofeconomic,Englishbecomesaneglectedmajor.ThisarticlefocusesonEnglishmajorsofHebeiFinanceUniversity,studiesandanalysestheobstaclesoflistening,speaking,reading,writing,translatingandculturaldifferencesinlearning,andvocationalinordertobenefitmorestudents.Thereissomeconstructionadvicesforbothstudentsandteachers,hopingtheywouldbeusefulinneitherthechoicesofstudentsortheinstructionoftheteachers.

TherearesomanyobstaclesaheadofEnglishmajors,thatthisarticlebasesonthesurveyofstudentsinHebeiFinanceUniversity,aimsatpointingoutthemainobstaclesthatblocktheirdevelopment,andmakingsomeconstructiveadvices.Asweallknow,Englishisonlyahelpfultoolintherapiddevelopmentsociety,itmustbeleechedonsomeprofessionalknowledge,thenitcanplayanimportantroleforthedevelopmentofastudentandmakehismostcontributionforthewholeworld.AsagraduatefromEnglishmajor,thefouryearsstudyhasmademeknowthatsomuchhastodobyboththestudentsandteachersthatwecanmakebusinessEnglishinouruniversitywithgreatpromise.
Asanessentialskill,listeninghasalwaysbeenanimportantSectionincommunicationandfoundationforthestudentstodevelopandimprovetheskillsofotherlanguage.Butduetotheeffectofvariousfactors,thepresentEnglishteachinghasfocusedonthetrainingofreadingandwritingskills,makingalotofEnglishmajorsfeelthatagreatnumberofproblemsexistinhearing.Asakindoflanguage,Englishisonlyasubjectoftool,whichoccupiesanextremelyimportantstatusineducationofcollegesanduniversitiesinourcountry,moreandmorestudentschooseEnglishasaprofessionaldisciplineintheiruniversitylife.Withtherapidlydevelopingandadvancingsociety,thetraditionalteachingpatternofreadingcourseshasnolongermeetthesocialdemandforEnglishmajors.AsanimportantcourseforEnglishmajors,intrainingstudents'Englishcomprehensiveability,readingplaysanimportantrole.IntheindependentcollegeEnglishwritingteaching,thereisacertaindegreeofproblemswithstudents,teachersorwritingteachingmaterials.Becauseofthis,studentsshouldenhancetheirinterestinwriting,andexpandtheirencyclopedicknowledge,understandthedifferencesbetweenEnglishandChineselanguage,andessenceofthehabitsofdoingmorereading,writingandEnglishthinking.Translationasanindependentdisciplineinourcountrystartedrelativelylate,butithasdevelopedveryquickly.Predictably,withfrequentinternationalcommunication,translationprofessionalwillbespreadinuniversitiesinthecountry.China'sreformandopening,steppingintheprocessofglobalization,canbetracedbacktoonehundredyearsago.Inthefaceofwesternpowers'solidshipsandadvancedcannons,peopleatthattimehadtoresorttowesternscienceandtechnologytosavetherevitalizationofChinesecivilization.

Theministryofeducationhasemphasizedthat"hearing"isthekeyinthelatestEnglishmajors'teaching,thatafterthereformofCET-4andCET-6,listeningcomprehensionhasoccupied35%ofthetotalscore,thusmakingtheimprovementoflisteningveryimminent.
Thefollowingareseveralmainunfavorablefactorsthatinfluencethelisteningcomprehensionabilityofcollegestudents'English:
1、CulturaldifferencesbetweenEnglishandChinese
Languageisboththecarrierandembodimentofculture.Countriesofdifferentculturalbackgroundshavetheirownlanguagecharacteristics.Culturalhabits,valueorientationandthelikeindifferentEnglish-speakingcountriesareverydifferfromourChinese.Ifstudentsarelackofrelevantculturalbackgroundknowledge,andignorethedifferencesbetweenChineseandwesterncultureinthelisteningmaterials,itiseasytoaffecttheunderstandingofdifferentlanguages,andevenleadtomisunderstanding.
2、Interferencefrommothertongue
Firstofall,thepreviousexam-orientededucationhasdominatedthetraditionalEnglishteachingmethodsforalongtime,namelycommonhitchesinteachingofnativelanguage,becauseofthiskindofteachingmethodstudentshaveformedthemothertonguethinkingstyle.Therefore,whenstudentslistenEnglish,theyalwayshabituallytranslateitintoChinese,andthenconvertitintoEnglish,theexcessiverelianceonmothertonguelearningstylegreatlyinfluencetheimprovementofstudents'listening.Whatismore,thetraditionalteachingmethodemphasisongrammartoomuch,butneglectthevocabularyandEnglishphonetics.Intheory,theinfluenceoftoneonhearing,toacertainextent,dependsonthenumberofstudents'vocabularyandgrammarknowledge,butstudents’phoneticknowledgeisnotsound,suchaspoorpronunciation,wrongwordsandsentencestress,inaccurateassimilationofblasting,falsesensegroups,incorrectliaisonandsound,andtheweakknowledgeofintonation,thesereasonscanalsoleadtothefailureofimprovementofstudents’listeningcomprehension.
3、Psychologicalproblemsofthestudents
Theprocessoflisteningcomprehensionincludesmorecomplexpsychologicalactivities,andthestateofstudents'mindinlisteningwilldirectlyaffecttheunderstandingoflisteningmaterials.Whenpeoplefeelnervousandfear,theywillmisunderstandthecontenttheyhaveheard.Theinstantaneityoflisteningcomprehensionrequiresstudentstocaptureandstoreinformationaccuratelyandrapidly,sothelistenermustfocustheirconcentrationforalongtime,itispronetoauditoryfatigue,poorconcentrationandbadmemory,theEnglishatmosphereisnotthickatthesametime,itisdifficulttodevelopEnglishthinkinghabits,whentheymeetapuzzledword,ortheycan'tkeepupwiththespeed,theyareeasytobecomenervous,anxietyandhorror.Itisthusclearthatbadmentalstatewillseriouslyinfluencetheprocessofobtaininginformation,andwillproduceachainreaction,abadmood,inattention,hearingimpairment,falltolistening,etc.

Students'listeningcomprehensionwillbeeffectedbythelisteningmaterialsthemselves,suchasthenewwordsamountistoolarge,sentencestructuresaretoocomplicatedandfastspeed,heavyaccent,theswallowingsound,lesionreadingandweakphenomenon,alloftheabovehaveobviouslyaffectedthelisteningeffect.ThereareseveralwaystoimproveEnglishmajors'listening,forexample,tocultivatecross-culturalawareness;tolayasolidlanguagefoundation;todevelopexcellentpsychologicalquality;toimprovetheirlisteningskills;topayattentiontochooseinformationandappropriateteachingmethods.Therearemanyfactorsthatcaninfluenceofnon-Englishmajorstudents'listening,butwecanfindthecorrespondingmeasurestoovercomethemonebyone.IntheEnglishlisteningteachingpractice,theauthorthinksthattheimprovementoflisteningcomprehensionisagradualprocess,whichneedstopracticeperseverance.Inaddition,theteachersmustpayattentiontochooserealandvarietyoflanguagematerials,guidethestudentscorrectlytoovercometheobstaclesinlisteningcomprehension,encourageandinspirestudents'interestinEnglishlistening,buildarelaxedclassroomatmosphere,andbegoodatusingthelearner'spositivepsychologytohelpthembuildself-confidence.Andthroughtheclassroomteaching,leadthestudentstolearn,enrichfieldoftheirvision,makethelearners'abenignlisteningcirculation,onlybydoingso,canweimprovetheirlisteninglevel.
