Onarrival,youwillbetakentoaLowIncomePublicHousingprojectinYubeiDistrict,quiteclosetotheairport,tobeshownthisnewhousingcomplexthathasbeendesignedtoaccommodatelowincomefamilies/workers.ThisisapriorityforthelocalGovernment’surban/ruraldivideprogrammeandhasbeensuggestedbytheForeignAffairsOfficetohelpillustratetheprogressthatisbeingmadeinthisarea.ConstructionisdueforcompletionbyDecember2011.YouwillalsobeableseetheprogressthatisbeingmadeonthenewNorth/SouthextensionofCQ’slightrailwaysystem（amajorinfrastructureprogramme）.Thevisitshouldtakenolongerthan30minutes.

YouarescheduledtoarriveattheIntercontinentalHotelat1730hrs.CGwillprovideaninformalbriefinginthecar.AtthehotelyouwillbemetinthelobbybyGeneralManager,SharonFraser.

Afterfasttrackregistrationandabrieffreshenup,youwillbeescortedtomeetwithChongqing’sMayor,MrHuangQifan.Thiswilltakeplaceinanante-roomandlastforsome30minutes.Otherseniorofficialsarelikelytobepresent.ThemeetingwillfocusonChongqing’snew5yeardevelopmentplan,UK/ChongqingcollaborationandCQ’sprogresstodate.Therewillbeanexchangeofgifts.

Atapproximately1830hrsyouandtheMayor’spartywillbeescortedtothe11thfloorofthehoteltoattendtheBritishConsulate’sGalaDinner.TheGalaDinnerwillconsistoftwentytablesoftenwithastrongsectorandcommercialfocus.Simon,CG,willintroducebothyouandMayorHuangtomakekeyintroductoryspeeches.TherewillalsobeofficialpresencefromChengduandKunming.Thedinnershouldendatapproximately2000/2030hrs.Thisconcludesyourprogrammefortheday.

At0800hrs,thefollowingday（23March）SimonwilljoinyouagainforaBusinessBreakfastwithselectedUKcompaniesfromChongqing,ShanghaiandtheUK.Thiswillhelptofamiliariseyoumorewiththelocalbusinessscene.MaggieTong（Simon’sPA）,willhelptocheckyouandyourimmediatepartyoutofthehotelandtostoretheluggageinadvanceofyourdeparturelaterthatday.

At0840hrsyouwilldepartfortheTwoRiverNewZone（TRNZ）whereyouwillbemetbytheDirectorGeneral,MrWongJieming.AseparateprogrammehasbeenorganisedforLadyGreentoattendanorphanageandmigrantworkersschool.AfterashortmeetingyouwillbetakentoTRNZ’sadministrationbuildingwherea1hourintroductionanddiscussiononChongqing’s“Pudong”hasbeenplanned.Theseminarwillcontinueafteryouhavedeparted,fortherestoftheday.

At1030hrsyouwillleaveforPartySecretary,BoXiLai’sofficefora45minutediscussiononhis5Chongqing’sprogrammeandplansforthefuture.Therewillbeanothergiftexchange.
