ThepurposeofthisexerciseistocoverthebasicfunctionalityoftheMechanicalToolbar(MTB)inthecontextofperforminganactualanalysis.Detailsofeachcommand,alongwithanexplanationofwhyyouareusingthecommand,areprovidedpriortoeachstep.
ThiswillbeasimpleproblemthatwillbeperformedentirelywithintheMTBtogivethestudentaquickoverviewoftheMTBfunctionality.Thisexercisewillusetheveryminimumofinputrequiredtoprogressthroughthestepsandobtainresults.Themodelwillemploythenodefeature/repairoptionduringimportofasolid3Dpart,MTBmaterials,Smartsizemeshing,simpleareaconstraints,andareaforceloading.
Theanalysiswillbeperformedona3-Dsolidmodelofanautomobilefrontwheelaxle.Themodelhasalreadybeensufficientlydefeaturedtofacilitatebuildingthefiniteelementmodel.YouwillusetheMTBtodeterminemaximumstressanddeflectionandiftheaxlecanwithstandthegivenloadswithoutyielding.
