Invitationletterscanbeusedtoinvitepeopletoanykindofevent,suchasabirthdayparty,acook-out,aslumberparty,acampaignkick-offdinner,etc.Invitationlettersaresometimesusedtoattractcustomers(i.e.,asalesinvitationletter)ortocontrolandrestrictthenumberofattendees.Thefollowingsampledemonstrateshowtowriteaninvitationtoasalesevent.
Sendaletterofinvitationwhenyouareinvitingsomeonetobeincludedinsomething,suchasanevent.Asisthecasewithallletters,thestyleandwordingyouuseinaletterdependonthespecificcircumstances.
Useappropriatetoneinyourletters,dependingonyouraudience.Forexample,ifyouknowtherecipientwellandarenotextendingaformalinvitation,youcanusemorecasualtone.Mostbusinessletterscallforaformalstyle.Ingeneral,itisbesttokeeplettersasshortandconciseaspossiblewhilestillcommunicatingtherelevantinformation.

Thecustomsofinvitingfriendsvaryfromcountrytocountry.Generallyspeaking,onformaloccasions,theinvitationisusuallymadewellinadvance.Butasforsomeinformalcases,theinvitationisusuallymadeorally.Toeitherofthesetwoinvitations,thepersonbeinginvitedshouldgiveaclearreplywhethertheinvitationisacceptedornot.
ForeigncustomismuchstricterthanChinesecustominthematterofreplyingtoinvitations.Whenyoureceiveaninvitationyoushouldansweritimmediately,sayingdefinitelywhetheryouareabletoacceptitornot.Iftheinvitationisgivenbywordofmouth,inconversationoratachancemeeting,youshouldansweratoncewhetheryoucancomeornot.Ifyoucannotgiveanansweratthattime,youmaysay"MayIletyouknowthisevening"orsomesuchwords.Bystudyingthisunit,wewillknowabouthowtoinvitetheothers,howtoacceptordeclinetheinvitation,andhowtowriteinvitationcards/letters
