DESCRIPTION:
Thepresentinventionconcernsadriveforanescalator,whichdrivesthestairbeltandisarrangedononeorbothsidesoftheescalatorattheupperand/orthelowerendthereof,whereinthedrivecomprisesamaindrivewheelandatleastonemotorwithgearandbrakecomponents.
BACKGROUNDOFTHEINVENTION
Differentdispositionsandconstructionalprinciplesareknownforescalatordrives.Sincethedrivemustbedesignedforthemaximallyoccurringload,arelativelylargeandstronglydimensionedmotorwithacorrespondinggearisnecessary.Poorefficiencyatthemostlyprevailingpartialloadandthelargeinstallationvolumeinthecaseoflimitedspaceavailabilitywithinanescalatorconstructionaredisadvantagesofsuchadrive.
Thesedisadvantagesarepresenttoalesserdegreeornotatallwithmulti-motordrives.Suchadriveforescalatorsandwalkways,whichcomprisestwoindividualdrivesortwotwindrives,theoutputgearwheelsofwhichdrivethestairchainortheplatechainand,bywayofanadditionalgear,thehandrail,isknownfromDE3526905.
Suchaconstructionisexecutedindifferentvariantsandcorrespondinglycomprisesanumberofdifferentgearsandgearhousingsforthestairchaindriveortheplatechaindrive.Furthermore,theindividualdrivesareequippedwithplanetarygears,whichcausesrelativelyhighcosts.
Theobjectofthepresentinventionistocreateanimprovedmulti-motordriveforescalators,whichcanbeimplementedatfavorablecosts,whichmaybebuiltupinamodularmanner,andwhichcoversausualperformancerange.
BRIEFDESCRIPTIONOFTHEINVENTION
Thedriveaccordingtothepresentinventiondistinguishesitselfbyseveralconstructionallyidenticaldriveunitsbeingmountabledistributedatthecircumferenceofamaindrivewheel,wherebythemaindrivewheeloritstoothingneedbedimensionedonlyforloadingbyasingledriveunit.Themaindrivewheelitselfthuscanhaveasmallerwidth,whichisofgreatadvantagefortheaccommodationofthedrivepartsinthecaseofanescalator.
Thedriveunits,inanumbercorrespondingwithpowerrequirements,maybeflange-mountedtoamaingearhousingidenticalforallperformanceclasses.Thissimplifiestheproductionprocessfortheentireconstructionalseries,reducestheinventoryandfacilitatesmaintenanceandrepairs.Thedriveunitsareprovidedwithtorquetransmittersand/orrotationalspeedtransmittersforrecognitionoftheirmechanicalloading.
Eachofthedriveunitscanfurthermorebeprovidedwithaclutchwhichmakesaselectableswitching-inorswitching-outofadriveunitpossible.Thedrivefurthercomprisesafrequency-settingdevicewhichiscommontoalldriveunitsandbymeansofwhichdifferentspeedscanbesetandwhichalsoservesasastartingaid.Acontrolandregulatingunitproducescorrespondingcontrolandregulatingcommandsbytheprocessingofincomingdata.Thecontrolandregulatingunitcausestheswitching-inandswitching-outofindividualdriveunitsonthebasisofactualloaddatafromthetorquetransmitters,whichhelpstoimprovetheelectricalandmechanicalefficiencyandthusalsoreducestheenergyconsumption.
Theuseofpolyphasealternatingcurrentsquirrel-cagemotorsofvariablefrequencyandtheirassociatedcontrolhastheadvantagethathightorquescanbeproducedatlowrotationalspeeds.

FIG.2showsthedetailsofadrive,whichisinstalledwithinacarryingstructure9attheupperend2oftheescalator1.Threeidenticallyconstructeddriveunits7driveatoothedmaindrivewheel6bywayofanoutputgearwheel7.6andanintermediategearwheel21,andarearrangedanddistributedaboutthecircumferenceofthemaindrivewheel6.Themaindrivewheel6,togetherwithastairchainwheel5,arefastenedonthemainshaft4ofthedrive.Thedriveunits7arefirmlyconnectedtoamaingearhousing8atthreeplanarflange-connectingopenings24formedforthispurpose.Whenlessthanthreedriveunits7areneeded,theunusedflange-connectingopening24maybeclosedbyacoverandtheassociatedintermediategearwheel21isnotinserted.Withthisconstruction,thesamemaingearhousing8canalwaysbeusedforone,twoorthreeneededdriveunits7.Theaxlesofthedriveunits7arearrangedtransverselytothedirectionofmovementoftheescalator1,whichyieldstheadvantageofashortmachineroom.
Asexampleofavariant,FIG.3showsanarrangementofthedriveunits7paralleltothedirectionofmovementoftheescalator1.Inthismannerofarrangement,thedriveunits7additionallycompriseabevelgear7.3.Motor7.1,clutch7.2,brake7.4,flywheel7.5andtheoutputgearwheel7.6,whichareotherwiseconstructionallyidenticalwithandincorporatedinthedriveunits7ofFIG.2,arepresentforeachdriveunit7.Themaingearhousing8islikewisealwaysthesameforone,twoorthreedriveunits7andunusedflange-connectingopenings24canlikewisebecoveredbyacover.

Acontrolandregulatingunit10containsmicroprocessorandrelaycontrolcomponents,aswellassignalanddatainputsandoutputs.Firstinputdataline18.1suppliesspeedvaluesfromthespeedtransmitter19,whicharefedasactualvaluestoaninternalregulatingsection.Thesecondgroupofinputdatalines18.2providemeasurementvaluesfromthetorquetransmitters20and,throughappropriateprocessing,causetheswitching-inandswitching-outofindividualdrivemodules7.Athirdgroupofinputdatalines18.3suppliesdatafromtransmitters11,whichessentiallyconcerncontrolsafetycontactsandmodeofoperationswitches.Afirstgroupofoutputdatalines17.1leadstotherelays15andtothefrequency-settingdevice16.Asecondgroupofoutputdatalines17.2containcontrolsignalsfortherelaycontrol23,andthethirdgroupofoutputdatalines17.3providesthedatatocontrolopticalsignalsandillumination12.
Themulti-motordriveaccordingtotheinventionfunctionsasfollowing:
Duringstarting-upoftheescalator1,therelay15forthedriveisswitchedon,thefrequency-settingdevice16isrunupandatleastonedrivemodule7isswitchedonbywayoftherelaycontrol23bythecontrolandregulatingunit10accordingtothechoiceofdirectionandastart-upprogram.Onreachingthetargetspeed,thedriveregulationinthecontrolandregulatingunit10holdsthespeedoftraveloftheescalator1constantwithincloselimitsindependentlyoftheload.Duringthenowfollowingoperationoftheescalator1,theinputdatalines18.2fromthetorquetransmitters20supplyinformationaboutthemechanicalloadingoftheswitched-indrivemodules7(motorsM1,M2toMn).
Inthecaseoflowornoloadingbytransportedpersons,thedrivepowerofthefirstmotorM1maysuffice,andthefurthermotorsM2toMnremainswitchedoff.IfafullloadingwithatendencytolastingoverloadissignalledbythetorquetransmitterL1,thenextmotorM2isswitchedonafteradefinedtime.Thesignalsfr
