iknowthatformanyofyou,todayisthefirstdayofschool.andforthoseofyouinkindergarten,orstartingmiddleorhighschool,itsyourfirstdayinanewschool,soitsunderstandableifyourealittlenervous.iimaginetherearesomeseniorsouttherewhoarefeelingprettygoodrightnow--(applause)--withjustonemoreyeartogo.andnomatterwhatgradeyourein,someofyouareprobablywishingitwerestillsummerandyoucouldvestayedinbedjustalittlebitlongerthismorning.
iknowthatfeeling.wheniwasyoung,myfamilylivedoverseas.ilivedinindonesiaforafewyears.andmymother,shedidnthavethemoneytosendmewherealltheamericankidswenttoschool,butshethoughtitwasimportantformetokeepupwithanamericaneducation.soshedecidedtoteachmeextralessonsherself,mondaythroughfriday.butbecauseshehadtogotowork,theonlytimeshecoulddoitwasat4:
