InDecember1958,JanereturnedhometoEnglandandLeakeybegantomakearrangementsfortheexpedition(考察),securingtheappropriatepermissionsfromthegovernmentandraisingfunds.InMay1960,JanelearnedthatLeakeyhadgainedfundingfromtheWilkieBrothersFoundation.
